The family of Lloyd MacCormack would like to announce that he entered into the healing presence of his loving Savior on Sunday, February 23, 2025 surrounded by his family as well as his Villa Family.
Born in Sydney, Nova Scotia, Lloyd was the ninth child and youngest son of the late Gordon and Edna (Harrison) MacCormack. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Maxine (Moore), his sons Mike (Tania), Gord, Debbie (Brent), and Jenn (George). He is also the grandfather of twelve grandchildren who he cherished with all his heart.
Besides his parents, Lloyd is predeceased by his brothers John (Hazel), James (Muriel), Donald, Clarence (Alice), Calvin, and sister Helen. He is survived by his brother Gilbert (Marilyn) and sisters Sarah (Bob), Jean (Scott), his sisters-in-law Rose and Janet, and brother in law, Allie.
As a young boy, Lloyd’s father used to call him his “Pretty boy”. He was a bit of a mischievous child, always playing practical jokes on people, all in harmless fun of course. He had various jobs since he was a young boy, but the majority of his life was spent at Sobeys in Sydney River. First as a janitor, then as a Deli worker, and finally a full time backshift shelf stocker. His many jokes and stories had his coworkers, friends, and family laughing (or groaning) every day. He would do anything to make people laugh!
Lloyd was an active member of Faith Baptist Church, Sydney, NS, up until he was diagnosed with vascular dementia and Alzheimer’s in 2020. He enjoyed being part of the worship team and singing alongside his wife, Maxine. He was a loving father to his four children and taught each of them how to live a Godly, Christian life. He loved to fish in Gabarus and passed on his love for the sea to his children and grandchildren. Lloyd centered his life around his family, supporting them, and taking care of them no matter what the situation. He was a devoted husband, loving father, a nice neighbour, and a loyal friend.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Sydney Memorial Chapel. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at 2 pm in Sydney Memorial Chapel, with Pastor Rob Jones officiating.
A special thank you to all the wonderful CCA’s, nurses, and volunteers who took amazing care of Lloyd and his family at the Richmond Villa, St Peter’s, NS. We are eternally grateful for all the love, compassion, and care you provided to us during his final years.
