Lloyd Kierstead
1937-2025
It is with great sadness that the family of Lloyd Kierstead
announces his peaceful passing at the age of 87 on the evening of
January 28, 2025, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, just over a
week after a tragic accident.
Lloyd was the son of the late Murray and Evelyn (Chatwin)
Kierstead. He was born in Sus on July 10, 1937 and moved to Plaster
Rock at the age of two.
He is survived and will be greatly missed by his wife Abigail
(Larsen) Kierstead, children Cynthia (Terry) Kiser, Stephen (Beverly),
Philip (Rochelle), grandchildren Jennifer (Tyson) Baker, Beth
(Michael) Green, Nancy (Ben) Williamson, Andrew (Melinda) Kierstead,
David (Alaina) Kierstead, Naomi (Bradley) Eagles, Heather (Geoffrey)
Braymore, Jeffrey Kiser, Kristin Greer, Andrea (Tommy) Corbin, Craig
Kiser, and Trent (Megan) Kierstead, and great-grandchildren Garrett
Baker, Chantal Baker, Sophia Eagles, Abigail Eagles, Lucas Williamson,
Nolan Kierstead, Ava Eagles, Everly Kierstead, Dominic Williamson,
Lauren Eagles, and Emerson Kierstead and by his sisters Norma
(Allison) Brewer and Erna (Alton) Cole, as well as many nephews and
nieces.
Lloyd was predeceased by his brother Gordon
Kierstead.
Lloyd began work at Shaw Auto Supply in the spring of 1956 on
a full-time basis, after having worked part time during the previous
school terms. Lloyd became manager of the store on January 1, 1976,
and purchased the business in May 1986. Lloyd continued to work in the
store until his retirement in January 2019.
In his younger life, Lloyd was very active in the community
including (but not limited to) the following:
Trustee of United Farmers Co-operative Co Ltd
Member of Board of Trade
Member of Plaster Rock Assoc., and a past
president
Member of Chamber of Commerce
Member School Trustee Board of Dist. 31 – two
terms
Member of Tobique Valley Hospital Board – two
terms
Member of Plaster Rock & area volunteer Fire
Dept.
Driver & Attendant of Tobique Valley Volunteer
Ambulance Brigade.
All the above-mentioned activities took a distant second
place to the love of Lloyd’s life, his God and his church.
Lloyd was very active in the Family Worship Center and was looking
forward to attending the first service in the new facility that is
currently being constructed. In lieu of flowers, donations to the
church building fund would be greatly appreciated.
Visitation for Lloyd will be held at the Family Worship
Center in Plaster Rock on Sunday, February 2 from 2:30-4:00 p.m. with
the funeral at 4:00 officiated by Pastor D.R. McKillop.
Arrangements are by O’Regan’s Funeral Home Ltd.
