Lloyd James Giem, born on May 7, 1944, in Bienfait, Saskatchewan, Canada, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a lifelong passion for family, music, and cars.
On August 7, 1971, Lloyd married the love of his life, Ruth, and together they shared 53 wonderful years of marriage. Their life was a testament to love, partnership, and the countless memories they created together.
Family was at the center of Lloyd’s world, second only to his love for cars. From a young age, he had a passion for all things automotive, racing cars in his youth and dedicating countless hours to restoring classic vehicles, including his prized 1968 Roadrunner. His love for cars often became a way to bond with others, sharing stories, laughter, and memories along the way.
Lloyd’s playful spirit was evident in his love for music. He was often found humming a tune and delighting those around him by changing the lyrics along the way, bringing smiles and laughter to family and friends.
Lloyd’s dedication to family extended into his community. He served as a Cub Scout leader and coached the local kids softball team, instilling values of teamwork and resilience while creating cherished memories for many. He loved watching his grandchildren play sports and took great pride in their accomplishments.
Lloyd began his career at the local Co-op in Estevan before transferring to Saskatoon, where he continued to build a life filled with hard work and meaningful connections.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Ruth; his son, Cory Giem, and Cory’s girlfriend, Amber, of Parker, Colorado; and his daughter, Cindy Menzies, and her husband, Mike, of Kenaston, Saskatchewan. Lloyd was a proud and devoted grandfather to Aliyah Giem and Eric, Brady, and Emily Menzies, who will forever cherish the laughter, music, and life lessons he shared.
Lloyd’s humor, generosity, and zest for life will be missed by all who knew him. His stories, songs, and memories-much like his restored cars-are treasures that will continue to bring joy to those he leaves behind.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages everyone to honor Lloyd by restoring a cherished memory or sharing a funny story-just as he would have loved.
Donations can be made in memory of Lloyd to a research facility for Retinitis Pigmentosa, or the Canadian National Institute For The Blind.
