Lloyd Edwin Hagen
(June 3, 1933 – July 23, 2025)
Lloyd was born on June 3, 1933, in Monitor, Alberta, to John and Susie Hagen. He was the second youngest of four siblings—Florence, Jack, and Norine. He began his education at Allied School and later attended Bawlf School, all while helping on the family farm.
Lloyd developed a strong work ethic from an early age. He enjoyed working with his hands, solving problems, and learning by doing. In 1952, he began trucking, hauling ties and gravel, and quickly became known as someone you could count on.
In 1958, Lloyd married Lois Uglem, a neighborhood friend who lived down the road. Together, they built a life at the original Hagen homestead. In 1961, they welcomed their daughter Sherry, who became the light of their lives. Lloyd was happy that Sherry went on to marry a farm boy, Rick Bratrud. Lloyd naturally stepped in to help setup Rick and Sherry with the family farm business. He was proud of the life they built and happy to lend a hand. Lloyd was a proud grandfather to Neil and Lisa. Memories of fishing trips, sporting events and crib games will always be cherished.
Lloyd farmed for many years and later became the proud business partner of Camrose Machine and Welding. His passion for fixing and creating never faded—he loved welding, working with metal, and building inventions that would help on the farm. He usually had a MacGyver fix for anything that needed repair. He was business-minded and practical, always looking for better ways to get things done.
Lloyd and Lois shared many wonderful years together until her passing in 2002. A few years later, during crib tournaments at the old schoolhouse, he met June Jackson. They married in 2005 and, though June passed away just a few months later, their short time together brought joy and comfort.
In 2007, Lloyd was introduced to a longtime family friend’s mother, Pat Loesch. Their bond was immediate, and they married that same year. With Pat came a large and loving family—nine stepchildren, many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Lloyd welcomed them all wholeheartedly, and he and Pat shared 11 happy years together until her passing in 2018.
In August 2018, Lloyd moved to Seasons Retirement Community, where he was known for his friendly charm, sharp wit and generosity. The staff and residents were drawn to his warmth, helpful nature, and easy conversation. When asked, “How are you today, Lloyd?” it was often met with “Better now that you’re here”. Lloyd looked forward to his visits from family and especially his great-grandkids.
Lloyd passed away peacefully on July 23, 2025. His life was built on hard work, generosity and love. He built machines, memories—and most of all, a legacy of kindness and strength that lives on in the hearts of those who knew him.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter Sherry (Rick); grandchildren Neil (Heather), and Lisa (Scott); great-grandchildren Emilie, Kate, Seth, Liam and Stella; step-children Jim (Marianne), Jean (Harry), Linda, Bonnie, Wanda, Wendy (Dave), Dianne (Derek), Susan (Len) and Brenda (Richard); numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law Larry (Carol) Uglem, and Merle (Joey) Uglem; sister-in-law Sonja Uglem; and numerous neices and nephews.
Rest in peace, Lloyd. You will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
