Linda Splaine (née Marsden)
October 28, 1948 – January 31, 2025
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Linda Splaine, who left this world on January 31, 2025, at 9:40 PM at Madawaska Valley Hospice in Barry’s Bay, Ontario, after a courageous battle with advanced stage 4 pancreatic cancer. She was 76 years old and a resident of Killaloe, Ontario.
Though cancer took her from us, it could never take away the love, warmth, and kindness she so freely gave to everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Linda was a woman of strength, grace, and unwavering love. She brought joy and light into the lives of so many, always putting others before herself. Her laughter was infectious, her presence comforting, and her heart immeasurable. Christmas was her favorite time of year—a season she filled with warmth, love, and cherished traditions. That spirit of giving and joy will live on in the hearts of those she loved.
She faced her illness with incredible bravery, always reassuring those around her with the words, “I got this,” even in the face of immense pain. Until her final moments, she remained strong, resilient, and surrounded by the love of her family.
Linda is survived by her loving children: Hugh Jolly (Stephanie) of Cornwall, Tabatha Jolly (Jay) of Pembroke and Trish King (Vincent) of Pembroke.
She is also survived by her dear sister, Cheryl Roosjen of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, (predeceased by her husband, Paul Sr. Roosjen).
Linda was a devoted and cherished grandmother to Chantal & Jordan King and Justin & Kristy Meilleur, and a loving great-grandmother to Jadah, Teagen, Elliot, Chance, and Emma.
She was also a beloved aunt to Paul Jr. Roosjen (Leanne) & Gabrielle of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, and Michael Roosjen (Carmen) & Oceana of Victoria, BC.
She was predeceased by her parents, Frances and Frederick Marsden, and her beloved husband, Larry Splaine.
Linda’s dear partner, Raymond Nicholls of Killaloe, Ontario, along with many other family members and friends, will forever hold her memory close.
Though the world feels emptier without her, Linda’s legacy of love, resilience, and kindness will continue to shine in all who were touched by her spirit.
In accordance with Linda’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and doctors at Barry’s Bay Hospital and Madawaska Valley Hospice Palliative Care for their exceptional support and compassionate care during this difficult time. We cannot thank you enough for all you did.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Linda’s memory may be made to Canadian Cancer Society or Madawaska Valley Hospice Palliative Care.
A special thank you to Zohr Family Funeral Home, Killaloe for helping us fulfill our mom’s final wishes, for their support, and for guiding our family with such kindness.
Mom, your love was our anchor, and now you are our angel.
We carry you with us always.
