Leslie Roy Corey – 89, Truro. It is with heavy
hearts that we announce the passing of Leslie Roy Corey, who departed
this life on Sunday, February 9, 2025. He passed away peacefully at
Wynn Park Villa, Truro, surrounded by his loving
family.
Roy was born in Canaan, New Brunswick, to the late Charles
Russell and Flossie Pearl (Keirstead) Corey. He grew up in Canaan and
attended Bethany Bible College from 1951 to 1953 in Yarmouth, Nova
Scotia. He worked several part-time jobs before joining the CN Police,
where he served for nearly 31 years. He married the love of his life,
Edie Cruickshank, and together they spent 60 wonderful years building
a life that included three children – Michael, Darren, Kimberly, four
grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Beyond his professional achievements, Roy was actively
involved at Truro Wesleyan Church (Connection Church) for 55 years.
During that time, he served on the board and as head usher. In
addition, he was a strong supporter of the The Gideons. A man of deep
faith, he desired for people to know and follow Jesus. He continually
sought to make a positive impact in the lives of others through his
compassion and humour. Roy was devoted to his family and invested in
the lives of his grandchildren. He was a competitive game player and
never liked to lose. He always had a funny joke to tell or a sweet
treat to offer.
Roy is survived by his three children, Michael (Edith),
Darren (Nancy), Kimberly. He was adored by his grandchildren, Nathan
(Jayne), Amy (Travis), Justin, Naomi (Jamin). Alongside them were his
six great grandchildren, Taylor, Dali, Jordyn, Jace, Caleb, James. He
is also survived by his sister-in-law, Mary Corey, along with other
relatives.
Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved
wife, Edie (Cruickshank); eight siblings, Russell, Raymond, Myrtle,
Doris, Lawrence, Faith, Harold, Hollie.
We are forever grateful for the wonderful love and care Roy
received during his three and a half years at Wynn Park Villa in the
north wing. It was comforting to know he was in the hands of true
angels.
Roy’s family will receive friends from 10 – 10:45
a.m., Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Connections Church, 38 Pleasant
Street, Truro, followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m., Reverend
Frank Melanson officiating. Reception will follow. Family and friends
are invited to attend and celebrate his remarkable life. In lieu of
flowers, donations in Roy’s memory to Alzheimer Society of
Nova Scotia are welcomed.
Roy will be deeply missed but forever remembered for his
generosity, wisdom, humor, and unwavering love for family and friends.
May he rest in peace in the arms of his Savior, whom he followed
wholeheartedly.
