Léo-Paul Guimond
1951-2025
RICHIBUCTO, NB – It is with great sadness that the
family announces the passing of Léo-Paul Guimond, who
passed away peacefully at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University
Hospital Center in Moncton on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at the age of
73. Born in Saint-Louis-de-Kent, NB, on June 10, 1951, he was the son
of the late Léopold « Polo » Guimond and the late
Emma Fontaine.
His love for the land, the rivers, and the forests was only
matched by his passion for sports, especially his unwavering support
for the Montreal Canadiens. As a father, he passed down the wisdom of
nature and excitement of the game, teaching his children to appreciate
the quiet beauty of the outdoors and the adrenaline of a well-played
match. Though his presence may no longer be with us, the memories he
created, the lessons he imparted, and the love he gave –
whether on the riverbanks or cheering for his team – will
continue to echo in every quiet moment spent in nature’s
embrace and every game we watch. He may be gone, but his spirit lives
on in all the places he loved, and in every moment we hold
dear.
Léo-Paul will be sadly missed by his children,
Sonia Milliea (Owen) of Richibouctou-Village, André
Caissie, and René Caissie (Hilary); the mother of his
daughter, Géraldine Guimond and the mother of his sons,
Flora Johnson; his sisters, Yvette McGraw (Ronnie) of Saint-John,
Claudette Robichaud (late Roy) of St. Louis, Lilliane Ferguson (late
Willie) of Dieppe, Lorraine Dugas (Paul) of St. Louis, Rose-Eva Comeau
(George) of Aldouane, and Jocelyne Guimond (Laurent Brideau) of
Richibucto; his brothers, Laurie Guimond (Janice Belliveau) of St.
Charles, Donald Guimond (Rachel Daigle) of St. Louis, and
Gérald Guimond (Francine Salois) of St. Hyacinthe, QC; his
Grandchildren, Madison, Mason, Stella, and Thomas; as well as by many
nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by three sisters,
Yvonne, Dora, and Jeanne; three brothers, Roger, Normand, and
George.
As per Léo-Paul’s wishes, there will be
no visitation or Funeral.
The family wishes to thank the staff at the Dr.
Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Center, Dr. Saulnier, Nurse
Isabelle and Nurse Aid Anise.
In memory of Léo-Paul, donations may be made to
the Richibucto Food Bank and would be greatly
appreciated.
Arrangements are in the professional care of Thompson Funeral
Home, Richibucto (506-523-4252).
