Leander Edward Braye Obituary
Leander Edward “Ed” Braye
August 26, 1937 – February 17, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Leander Edward Braye, known fondly as Junior, at the age of 87. Ed passed peacefully on February 17, 2024, at St. Clare’s Hospital in St. John’s.
Ed was a kind and caring man, always ready with a warm smile and a quick wit. He had a generous heart, a deep love for family and friends, and a knack for making others laugh even in the toughest moments. His presence brought comfort, his humor brought joy, and his kindness left a lasting mark on all who knew him.
He was predeceased by his parents: Bessie Louise and Leander Braye; his siblings: Barbara Butt (Clarence), Phyllis Manuel (Ernest), Jean Bullock (Don), Marjorie Elizabeth Henry (Charles), Reginald Braye (Gae), John Braye (Joyce); brother-in-law Nester Schure; and close nephew Gary Braye (Doreen).
Left to mourn with love are his daughters Crystal Braye and Tammy Fraser (Glen); his stepchildren: Tracey Elliott and Todd Elliott; along with three step-grandchildren; his granddaughter Suzanne Ricker (Evan); his great-grandchildren: Felix and Evelyn; his siblings: Lorraine Schure and Robert Braye (Melvina); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends: including May and Nathan Crane, Larry and Paula Price, and George Mavrou.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kids Eat Smart in honour of Ed, who always had a soft spot for little ones.
Cremation has taken place and funeral services will be held in Corner Book at a later date.
