Mrs. Laura Lee Henderson nee Hornick passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at the age of 81 years. Laura Lee was born in London, Ontario on February 20, 1943. She was always a creative, fun, and spunky individual and will always be remembered for her love of her friends, family, and animals. Laura Lee began her career as an LPN with training from HB Beale in London, Ontario and later returned to school at the university of Calgary and the Red Deer College where she obtained her Bachelor of Education. She taught for many years at the Innisfail Junior Senior High School. Laura Lee’s ‘retirement’ began when her and her loving husband started White Treasure Farm in 1990. Her true passion in life, her family, unknowingly began in 1962 on a cold winter day when she missed the city bus. Laura Lee’s luck changed when she stopped at a friend’s house to keep warm until the next bus came. During this stay she met John Henderson. John and Laura Lee married on February 27, 1965, and Laura Lee spent the rest of her life as Laura Lee Henderson, a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Together Laura Lee and John travelled to Germany with John’s military career. While in Germany they welcomed their oldest child John Buck ‘Buck’. Upon returning to London Ontario, they then had their second born, Lesley Anne, three years after her they welcomed Buck. Their little family was complete with this addition. Three years after Lesley’s birth they moved to the Mynarski Park Base that later became Spring Brook, Alberta where John finished his service and military career. Following this the family moved up the road to Innisfail, Alberta, where they raised the children. While in Innisfail, Alberta, Laura Lee continued her nursing before switching her career path to teaching. After both Buck and Lesley had grown and moved out, John and Laura Lee started White Treasure Farms in 1990. After six years on the farm, Laura Lee became a grandmother to her oldest grandson, Alex, Lesley and Tim’s first child, four years later Buck and Lesley each welcomed a granddaughter into the family, Annissa Buck and Shauna’s and Danielle, Lesley and Tim’s. Laura Lee loved reading, scrapbooking, and fibre art. Her lifelong friends Marylin and BJ, better known as the twisted sisters, were always close and came to visit the farm a few short years before her passing. It brought her great joy to know that their friendship had truly lasted a lifetime. Her greatest love was her family, pets included. Following her stroke, Laura Lee mentioned her love of the dogs, Bay and Cocoa, and how much she missed seeing them every morning at breakfast. Laura Lee is lovingly remembered by her friends and family. Her smile, antics, and shenanigans will be missed by all. Laura Lee is deeply missed by her husband, John Henderson of Markerville, Alberta, her son, Buck Henderson of Red Deer, Alberta, her daughter, Lesley (Timothy) Forseberg of Elnora, Alberta, her grandchildren, Alex (Alanna) Forsberg, Danielle (Jordan Castle) Forseberg, Annissa Henderson, and her great grandchildren, Maxxum, Lyndi, Colton, Grayson and Kaden. She had many cousins, brother and sisters-in-law’s, nieces and nephews. Following the loss of her sister Carol, Laura Lee stepped effortlessly into the role of the family matriarch for her nieces Kathyrn, Shelley, Adrianne, and Christine. Laura Lee will be missed by the lives she touched as a teacher, co-worker, nurse, friend, great grandmother, grandmother, mother, and wife. She has joined her mother and sister in heaven, and we know she is watching over each and every one of us. This is not good-bye but simply a “see you later”. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
