Obituary of Katherine Agnes O’Connor
It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Katherine “Kitty” O’Connor (Bakker) at the age of 71 on Tuesday, February 11th, 2025. Beloved by all that knew her, she was loving wife and best friend to Bill, and the best mother to Courtney (Mark Patrick), Scott (Stephanie Lapierre), Sam (Josh Smith), and Gilbert the cat. Kitty loved her role as Oma to “her boys” Brendan, Kaden, Jaxson, Weston, Teddy and Charlie. And always enjoyed watching them master their passions whether it was auto racing, bowling, hockey, baseball, soccer or drums. She was big sister to Anges Cudmore (Bart), Fred Bakker (Shirley), Trudy Huber (Don), Shirley Brennen (Joe), and Peter Bakker (Juwels).
Kitty was passionate about her career of 44 years with Delaware Pump and Parts. She was an example of strength, kindness and determination to her co-workers and anyone that did business with her.
Kitty was a one-of-a-kind spirit who lived life as though every day was a chance to hit the jackpot. One of her favorite pass times were her trips with to Niagara with Bill. She wasn’t just a gambler, she was a strategist, a lady who knew how to savor the sweet sound of the reels spinning and the gentle “ding” of a win. Her joy wasn’t in the winnings, though, it was in the thrill of the game itself, and the memories made with Bill. For Kitty, each spin was an adventure.
Kitty is survived by a world that will miss her vibrant energy, her unbeatable optimism, and her legendary turtleneck collection. She was a friend to many, a delight to all, and proof that life is about enjoying the ride, whether it’s at the casino, at Dollywood, or wrapped up in the warmth of a good sweater.
A private family Celebration of Kitty’s life will be held at the ELLIOTT-MADILL FUNERAL HOME, Mount Brydges at a later date.
