It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of
Katherine Ann Bishop of Fredericton, NB on Monday, July 28th, 2025, at
Hospice House Fredericton. She was 80. Born and
raised in Fredericton, she was a daughter of the late Lee and Winifred
(Demmings) Miles.
Kathy deeply cherished time with her family and found her
greatest joy in being surrounded by her loved
ones—especially her grandchildren. She was their biggest fan
and never missed an opportunity to cheer them on. Whether it was
cheering for Nathan at FHS hockey games at the LBR, fondly recalling a
special trip to Buffalo for Daniel’s hockey tournament, or
supporting Ashlynn in basketball and soccer, John in lacrosse, and
Lauren in softball, each moment was a treasured memory she held close
to her heart.
A proud and active member of
the Harness Racing community, Kathy embraced her role as a race
charter with devotion, often working alongside her beloved husband,
Gerald. Together, they built their lives around harness racing and
funeral conventions, forming deep friendships and honoring those
within their shared communities. These events held profound meaning
for them both, as they celebrated legacies and lives with compassion
and camaraderie.
Kathy also cherished the
family’s annual vacations to Skowhegan, Maine, where she and
her children bonded over the excitement of harness racing and created
memories that would last a lifetime.
A warm
and social spirit, Kathy found joy and friendship at Winners Lounge
and St. Mary’s Entertainment Center, where she made many
lasting connections. Her creativity flourished in her love of sewing
and crafts, a passion she shared both personally and professionally
while working at a craft store.
Above all,
Kathy loved her husband, Gerald, deeply and was devoted to him
throughout their life together and until the very end.
Her warmth, creativity, and unwavering love for her
family and community touched the lives of many. Kathy will be deeply
missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
She will be deeply missed by her children, Lee (Erika) and
Lisa (Mark), her grandchildren Lauren, Daniel, John, Nathan (Mady),
and Ashlynn, her stepson Jim (Christine), and her brother James
(Regi). She is now reunited with her loving husband Gerald, her son
Daniel, and her brother Eric.
A celebration of Kathy’s life will take place on
Saturday, August 9th, 2025, from 1-3 p.m. at Bishop’s
Funeral Home and Crematorium, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton.
Interment will take place in the Fredericton Rural Cemetery
Extension.
Kathy’s family would like to
express their sincere thanks to George Miles, Dr. Galvis, and
Stephanie from the Oncology Department, Charlotte from Bayshore, Erica
and staff at Hospice House Fredericton, as well as Drs. Matthew and
Ross Kenney for all the care and compassion shown to her and her
family.
