January 12 2025 résidant dans la province Saskatchewan pour le détail des funérailles
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our father and Opa on Sunday, January 12, 2025. He was predeceased by his wife Erna; parents Joseph and Katerina; and his brother Walter. John leaves behind his son Dan (Maureen); cherished grandchildren Erin and Matthew (Jonathon); and much anticipated greatgrandchild.
John was born in Essen, Germany and immigrated to Canada with his two friends at the age of 17. John was employed with Wappel Construction followed by a long career with the City of Regina where he also enjoyed a 50+ year participation in the City of Regina Curling League.
John and Erna resided in Regina, SK, and built a cottage at Sunset Cove in 1959 where the majority of their weekends were spent. Following their retirement; they moved out to the lake where the cottage became their home and quickly became the center of their lives, where many lifelong friendships were created. The cottage was a testament to John’s talents and workmanship. He was consulted and all too happy to lend his help on many projects over the years. The Annual pig roast of 25 years provided many drinks, good food and laughs.
His two grandchildren and time spent together was a great source of pride for John. Many laughs and time shared with him will remain with Erin and Matthew forever. He was excited with the anticipation of his first great grandchild coming in February.
The family wishes to extend their heart felt thank you to the staff of Allegro Personal Care home, Regina Emergency Medical Services, the Regina General Hospital Emergency Department – with special thank you to Dr. Clint Houlie and Registered Nurse Caydence Haid and Speers Funeral Chapel for their professionalism and compassion at this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers – the family would like to request donations to the Regina General Hospital Emergency Department Education Fund. c/o Danielle Ash or Laura Weimer 1440 14th Avenue Regina SK S4P 0W5.
