John Andrew May
It is with great sadness that the family of John Andrew May (Lower
Cornwall) announce his passing on Tuesday, March 25, 2025.
John dedicated his life to caring for others by providing the highest
level of care in his 35+yr career of being a level III paramedic. He
started his career in Lower Sackville as a volunteer with Arsenaults
Ambulance Service. Finding his place in life, he took the training
necessary to become a paramedic, moved to Bridgewater to work for
Sweenys Ambulance, before becoming a provincial EHS employee. His
being a high skilled paramedic, put him in a position to be a mentor
to many, as well as a facilitator at the NS school of paramedicine.
John wanted to help others, this included being a volunteer member of
both the Conquerall Bank Fire Department and Cornwall & District
Fire Departments, a First Aid instructor and Scout leader. When John
wasn’t working his next favorite spot was hosting friends and
family at the cottage on Little Mush-a-Mush. We will fondly remember
the campfires, card games, boating trips, and holidays he graciously
hosted.
John was husband to Carol Anne (Walsh) and proud father of Andrew May.
He will be greatly missed by his father, Ernie May (Sheila MacDow);
brother, Brian May (Lanna Trimm); sister, Carolyn May (Ian Healey) and
nephew, Jeremy Halsey. He was predeceased by his mom, Bernice
(Hibbitts), maternal grandparents, Bernard and Gwendlyn Hibbitts;
paternal grandparents, Ernest and Elizabeth May.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to a charity of your choice may be
made.
May you find the peace you so rightly deserve.
