It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Joan Marie Dawe (nee Kirby) of St. John’s at the HSC on Wednesday, March 5.
Predeceased by her beloved husband Harry and her parents Fred and Mabel Kirby.
Leaving to mourn are her sisters Anne Tessier and Christine Crewe, nephews Mark Tessier, Peter Crewe and Ian Dawe, nieces Julia Watton, Jane and Kate Tessier, Sandra Chisholm and Jean Wiebe. Joan leaves behind a large circle of cousins and friends.
She still maintained a very close friendship with many of her nursing classmates from the general hospital class of 1964. She was a longtime and very involved member of the church of St. Michael and All Angels, and more recently of St. Mark’s Anglican Church. For many years Joan has served as a member of Emmaus House Food Bank. Her hands were never idle, either knitting, crocheting or needle work, much of which she donated or gifted to some very lucky people.
Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Wednesday, March 12 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held from St. Mark’s Anglican Church, 203 Logy Bay Road, on Thursday, March 13 at 2pm. Interment to follow in the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road.
Donations in Joan’s memory may be made to Emmaus House Food Bank, or St. Mark’s Anglican Church.
