Obituary of Jimmy Mirchandani
Jimmy Mirchandani
(January 1956 – January 2025)
It is with deep sadness but with grateful hearts for the incredible life of a very special man, that the Mirchandani family shares the passing of Jimmy on Sunday January 26, 2025 at his home in Stoney Creek.
Jimmy is survived by his sons, Akshay (Aparna) and Amol (Karishma); his daughter, Robyn (Fredo); his beloved grandsons, Aman and Hrehan; his newborn granddaughter, Penelope; his brother, Rahul (Nitya); his nephew, Armaan; his sister-in-law, Joan and co-grandparent Sangeeta. He was predeceased by his parents, Bala and Rajan, step-father Thakurdas and his cherished wives, Sarasa and Vivian both of whom he adored.
Born in Mumbai, Jimmy completed his initial education in India and then pursued post-graduate studies in America, graduating as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. Although he never practiced law, Jimmy completed his law degree in India prior to undertaking his graduate studies. At every level of education, Jimmy was a true scholar, always with top of his class standing.
Following the passing of his parents, Jimmy assumed the role of Chairperson and Managing Director of ARIES, the family business that he nurtured and expanded into a multinational company providing employment to thousands of people spanning over ten countries. Upon retirement, he was succeeded in the business by his brother Rahul, with Jimmy remaining a Director until his passing.
Jimmy and the Mirchandani family are renowned across India for their business acumen and successes. However, the area of which Jimmy was most proud was his personal relationships with the firm’s employees. To him, they were all part of the ARIES family and its success. He loved to share stories of his interactions with staff at all levels.
Despite all of his accomplishments, Jimmy’s true love, passion and dedication was his family – both immediate and extended. He was truly the epitome of a family man. He was always there for each, regardless of circumstance. He was loving, caring, supportive, compassionate and generous to a fault. Saying “no” to a family member happened rarely and when it did, it was difficult if not excruciating for him.
Jimmy Mirchandani had two families; blood relatives and those he chose to adopt. His adopted family started with his boyhood come life-long friend SN and his wife Radha. Jimmy and SN have been inseparable since earliest school days until now. Who of us can say that they have either seen or talked to a friend virtually every, day since childhood. Each was unique in their own way and from very diverse backgrounds but interwoven in a friendship as unique as their personalities and backgrounds. They became family to each other with Jimmy often saying that his mom liked SN more than him.
Jimmy’s adopted family extended to his new homeland, Canada. Karin, Darrel, Mary, Vince, Michelle and Chris were in Jimmy’s mind, his extended family. Each was not just a neighbour or a friend, they were his new-found siblings. He will be missed by the people of Bal Harbour, the community in which he lived. He was truly a good neighbour and admired and appreciated by his neighbours and friends.
Despite all of his educational, business and community accomplishments, Jimmy was a modest and humble man. He signed every document “Jimmy” not “Dr. Mirchandani”. He seldom if ever spoke of his business position, awards received or his educational “first in class” educational standing. He just wanted to be “Jimmy”. Jimmy Mirchandani loved and was proud of his adopted country. He, nevertheless, remained till his passing, a proud citizen of his homeland.
Thank you Jimmy for allowing each of us who you encountered into a little corner of your big heart. This world is a better place because you walked with us
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate funds donated in Jimmy’s name to the local Hamilton Food Share in Stoney Creek or at 339 Barton Street, Stoney Creek, ON, L8E 2L2.
