Peacefully, at Watford Quality Care with her family at her side. Janice Irene Boomer, formerly of Forest, was reunited with her loving husband Ted (2017). Mom was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1928 to Lyle and Edith Wellington. Mom was the youngest of 3 children. She was predeceased by her sister Jean Thompson (Foster) brother Ross. Survived by sister-in-law Leone Wellington and brother-in-law Bud Boomer (June). Mom graduated from Hamilton General Hospital in 1950 as a registered nurse. With the opening of North Lambton Rest Home in Forest, she was given the position of director of nursing. Upon retirement, she was the administrator of North Lambton Rest Home and Meadowview Villa in Petrolia.
She is the loving mother of Michael (Leslie), Cathy Boomer (Dave Wilkinson) and Nancy Shephard (Bot Cottingham). She is also the dearly loved grandma of Mark Shepherd (Kerry Kingdon and children) and Adam Shephard (Tricia). Special great grandma to Ben and Maddy Shepherd. Loved aunt oof several nieces and nephews. A heartfelt thank you to the staff at Watford Quality Care for all they did to make mom’s final years comfortable.
A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, February 19th, 2025 at 12 pm at Denning’s of Forest, 9 James St. S. with visitation for one hour prior to service. Interment to take place at Beechwood cemetery.
