Janet Hardy (nee Dillon), 63 years, of Petrolia died surrounded by her daughters on Thursday, February 27, 2025 at Bluewater Health Sarnia. Janet was predeceased by her husband of 40 years Gary Hardy (2023). She will be missed by her daughters Jacky Hardy and Jordan Hardy. She was the daughter of Robert and the late Sally (2020) Dillon and a sister to Martin (Dorothy) Dillon, Tracy (Robert) Horne, Scott Dillon, and Corey Dillon (Jessica England). She was also a beloved sister-in-law to Kenneth Hardy, Doris Cuthbert (missed and always loved Randy Cobb), Randy (Cindy) Hardy, Bruce Hardy, Ric (Kim) Hardy and and dearly missed Sherry (Greg) Thompson. Janet is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and close neighbours and friends. She will be greatly missed by her fur kids Josie and the pussycats as well as her Grand-pup Reilly.
Janet was one of the kindest people to ever walk this Earth. She was a strong, independent graceful lady who touched the lives of everyone she knew in a positive way. She was for many, the go to person for advice and support. Her compassion and caring towards others knew no bounds. Janet would always be the first person to offer anyone, be it friend or stranger, anything she could to help them. She had so much love in her heart for others, often putting everyone before herself with no expectations of anything in return. If someone was lucky enough to have Janet in their life, they knew they would have a supporter and champion for themselves no matter what. She had been a proud Lambton Central Petrolia Optimists member for many years.
Janet, like her late husband Gary, valued the simple things in life. She prioritized talking and spending time with her family and friends; in particular talking to her daughters and chatting with her lifelong friend Janice Clarke. Janet found peace in sitting outside in her catio with her fur kids. She enjoyed going for drives with her girls and spending time with her father. She loved laughter and enjoyed sending her friends and family videos and jokes that inspired this, as well as had “poke” wars with many friends over the years on Facebook. Janet also loved to read and stay up to date on current events. Janet was born to be a mother and even acted as a second mother for many. Janet was one of a kind and taught her daughters everything except how to live without her. She will be missed terribly but loved always. Although taken too soon, we have been blessed to have had this amazing woman in our lives.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to Caregivers of Petrolia Ferals.
