Janet Denovan Obituary
Janet Denovan
Born: July 4, 1950, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
Passed: January 4, 2025, Carleton Place, Ontario, Canada
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Janet Denovan, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Janet passed away peacefully on January 4, 2025, in Carleton Place, Ontario, where she had made her home since 1975.
Born in Ottawa, Ontario, Janet was the cherished daughter of Andrew and Pat Stephen. Janet graduated as a Registered Nurse from OCH in 1971, dedicating herself to a career marked by compassion, kindness, and tireless care for others.
Janet’s family was the center of her world. She leaves behind her husband, Jack Denovan, her two loving sons, Robb (Kirsty) Denovan and Kyle (Amanda) Denovan, and her adored grandchildren, Rowan (10) and Ivy (7).
She shared a close and loving bond with her sister Anne and bother John. She cherished her daily calls with Anne, and treasured the joy and strength of family ties throughout her life. Spending time with her nieces Carly and Melissa and Shiloh and Kayla, and their children, Meara, Naomi, Rhett, Clara, and Jude was important to Janet. She jumped at any chance to be surrounded by her family.
Janet’s generosity, thoughtfulness, and humor touched everyone who knew her. She had a remarkable ability to make others feel loved and valued, always putting their needs ahead of her own. Janet was deeply creative, pouring her heart into everything she did, particularly her beautiful quilts, which she lovingly crafted for family and friends. These cherished heirlooms will forever hold her memory close.
Travel brought Janet great joy. She made unforgettable journeys to Europe aboard the Queen Mary, explored Paris, Italy, and Greece with her dear friend Kim, visited her son and his family in San Francisco several times and took treasured trips closer to home, including a memorable visit to Collingwood to attend ElvisFest with Kyle and Amanda. When her health no longer allowed her to travel, Janet embraced simpler pleasures, like solving puzzles, reading, and spending quality time with those she loved most.
Janet will be deeply missed by her family and her many close friends, including Kim, Frances, her Red Hat friends, her COPD support group, and her nursing colleagues. Her love, kindness, and selfless spirit will live on in the countless lives she touched.
Janet’s faith in God and her belief in heaven brought her comfort, especially in her later years. She longed to be reunited with her parents and other loved ones who had passed before her, finding peace in the thought of seeing them once again.
Janet’s life was a testament to love, strength, and selflessness. She gave endlessly to others and asked for little in return, leaving a legacy of grace and warmth that will never be forgotten.
