Obituary of Irene Marion Baker
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Irene Marion Baker on August 8th 2025, at the age of 61. Born August 11th 1963 in Musquodoboit Harbour, Irene left this world at home surrounded by the love of her family by her side.
Irene was the loving wife of Stephen, her true love and partner of 42 years. Together, they built a life filled with joy, laughter, and unwavering love. She was the proud and loving mother of Chevone (Thomas) Logan, Bradley (Sheena) Baker, and Dustin (Lindsey) Baker. Though Irene lived a full and vibrant life, nothing brought her more joy than being “Nanny.” Her grandchildren; Brayden, Emma, Claire, Bryson, and Lily Irene were the center of her heart. She cherished every moment spent with them, and her love for them was boundless, shining through in her laughter, her hugs, and the stories she shared.
Irene found joy in life’s simple, beautiful moments. She had a deep love for gardening and could often be found with her hands in the soil, tending to her flowers with care and pride.
Irene had a way of turning friends into family. Her quick wit, warm heart, and love of a good laugh made her the kind of friend everyone cherished. If you knew Irene, you likely shared a story, a smile, and at least one dance floor moment with her.
Irene was predeceased by her beloved parents, Stanley & Catherine Bayers. She is survived, and will be deeply missed, by her sister Elaine (David) Young, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends whose lives she touched with her kindness and joyful presence.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the Palliative Care team at Saint Martha’s Hospital for their exceptional compassion, care, and support during this time.
A celebration of life will be held at the Petpeswick Yacht Club, 434 E Petpeswick Rd, Musquodoboit Harbour, NS on August 30th from 2:00 – 4:00 pm where friends and family can come together to honor and remember the incredible woman she was.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Palliative Care Unit c/o Saint Martha’s Hospital Foundation, Antigonish.
Irene will be missed more than words can express, but her love and laughter will live on in all of us.
