Putoczki, Helen C. (Matisz) (July 24, 1930 – January 22, 2025)
It is with great sadness, that we the family of Helen C. Putoczki, wish to announce her peaceful passing, after a courageous struggle with illness, at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital, with her loving family by her side, on January 22nd, 2025, at the age of 94. Helen dedicated her life not only to nurturing her family and her friends but also the community she cherished. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She filled her family’s lives with love, homemade treats, crafts, and flowers from her beautiful gardens. Helen was born in Regina, Sask., to John and Mary (Stumpf) Matisz. For many years, Helen was a member of Sacred Heart R.C. Church, Langton, the former St. Ladislaus R.C. Church, Courtland and most recently attended St. Mary’s R.C. Church, Tillsonburg. She was a dedicated member of the Delhi District Hungarian Hall and Delhi District German Home, the Catholic Women’s League, the Courtland Women’s Institutes, the Lioness Club and the Horticultural Society where she proudly won first prize for her flowers. Throughout her life, she was a dedicated volunteer for many charities, projects and community initiatives.
Helen is predeceased in death by her beloved husband and dancing partner of 70 wonderful years, William “Bill” A. Putoczki (October 21, 2021). She leaves her loving children, Carol (Putoczki) Hasilo of Tillsonburg and William (Bill) Charles Putoczki (Brenda) of Ridgeway. Always a caring Grandmother to Lisa (Hasilo) Bouchard (Henry) of London; Craig Hasilo (Joelle) of Montreal; Tracey Putoczki Griffin (Mike) of Australia; Christopher Putoczki of Niagara Falls. Her legacy lives on through her 8 great-grandchildren Alexa & Zachary; Evelyne & Chloe; Christian & Thomas; Kate & Lola. Also survived by her caring brother in-law Andy (Kathleen) Putoczki, of Delhi, as well as by her nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by her in-laws George (late Julia) Putoczki.
The family would like to thank and express our appreciation for the exceptional care and compassion from the Nurses, PSWs & staff of Maple Manor Nursing Home, TDMH ICCU Nurses and PSW as well as Dr. Hayat. We will never forget the years of dedication from Dr J. Andrew and Dr V. Van Hooydonk and staff.
Friends, neighbours, and relatives are invited to attend public visitation on Friday, January 31st, 2025, between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. in the Verhoeve Funeral Home’s Chapel, 262 Broadway, Tillsonburg. Additional visitation will be held on Saturday, February 1st, between 10:00 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s R.C. Church (51 Venison St. W, Tillsonburg) to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., by Rev. Fr. Seejo John. All funeral attendees are invited to attend a CWL-prepared reception, immediately after the Funeral Mass in the St. Mary’s Church basement. Spring interment in St. Ladislaus R.C. Cemetery, Courtland.
