Obituary of Harriett Everitt
(nee LeClaire)
On Sunday January 26, 2025 at the age of 107, surrounded by love, our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother departed peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and joy.
Daughter of the late James Alexander and Annie (nee St. Pierre) LeClaire of Calabogie. Wife of 66 years of the late Henry Robert Everitt (2004).
Mother of Jane Garbutt (Jack), Marilyn, and Gerald Everitt.
Grandmother of Robert (Paulette), Patrick (Tim), Wayne (Tammy), and Christopher and great-grandmother of 7.
Harriett was a sister to 8 siblings, Alfred (Helen), William (Delia), Isaac (Yvonne), Mulvina (Louis), Joseph (Gaetan), Beatrice (Flip), Patricia (Herbert) and is survived by sister Theresa (the late Alfred). Aunt to countless generations of nieces and nephews, her warmth will always be remembered.
Born in Calabogie, Ontario, Harriett’s journey began there until age 6 when her family moved to Sudbury. She met and married Henry Everitt, settling in Garson where they spent nearly 60 years raising their family and nurturing community. Many will remember them as “Mom and Dad” through their joyous presence at “The Royal” and Harriett’s endless baking, which brought delight to family and friends alike.
Harriet lived a full life, thriving on contentment and happiness. With the unwavering support of children Marilyn, Jean, Gerry, and son-in-law Jack Garbutt, she later moved to Ottawa to be with her grandson Patrick.
Special thanks to Patrick’s family, Tim, Joshua, and Dalton, for bringing Gran home during the pandemic.
Another heartfelt thank you goes to Aunt Theresa and her daughters (Deb, Gail, and Lorie), whose countless visits to Ottawa radiated love to Gran.
Appreciation extends to the people of Calabogie and the staff and owners of Wes’s Fries in Arnprior, who consistently made her feel cherished.
To the staff and management of Groves Park Lodge in Renfrew, our gratitude for their extraordinary care is beyond words; you are simply the best.

Harriett will be laid to rest in Garson in the spring alongside her dear Henry.
