Our hearts are breaking as we announce the passing of Harriet Adele Ann Arseneault (nee Taylor) on Monday, May 5, 2025. Peacefully, surrounded by family and friends at Bluewater Health Palliative Care, Harriet lost her lengthy battle with cancer at the age 78. She fought fiercely with an incredible attitude that she would live each day to the fullest, and she did. Beloved wife of the late Vincent Arseneault (2015).
Loving mother of Denise Simpson (Dave Fogel). Predeceased by her Daughter Jo-Anne Cartier (2021).
Cherished Nana of Nicole Simpson (Alex Worger), Chantal Simpson, Jennifer Simpson, Keyan Fogel, Liam Fogel, Shane Arseneault (Hannah), Krista Smalletters (Giedrius), Rebecca Chelonis (Yani) and Eric McKay, whom she loved with all her heart.
Treasured Great-Grandmother to Emily, Collin, Jackson, Devina, Girus and Nortilas.
Survived by her dear sister, Gina Smith, who will greatly miss her. They were like Thelma and Louise with all their road trips and laughs, and her sister Bernice Gear (Joe).
Also survived by many nieces and nephews who loved their Aunt Harriet.
Predeceased by her parents Raymond and Ivy Taylor, and her brothers, Winston and Rudy.
Harriet or Harry as they called her, worked at Marshall Gowland Manor for 30 years where she made many life long friends that she cherished and we have been told will miss her incredible laugh as well as her beautiful smile and spirit.
Harriet loved playing Euchre and spoke fondly of her Tuesday and Thursday night Euchre group, and her new friends at Vision Rest Home.
Words cannot express our deepest gratitude to her best friends, Sheila and Paul Reed for all the loving care and support they have provided during her battle and this difficult time. Harriet will be missed greatly by the entire Reed family, especially her little buddies, Max and Myles.
The family wants to express their deepest appreciation to Dr. Lily, The staff at Vision Rest home, and the amazing staff of Bluewater Palliative unit who brought comfort in her final days.
While Harriet will be missed by so many, we take comfort in knowing that she is now reunited with her husband Vince, the love of her life, to continue their adventures together.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Joseph’s hospice in Harriet’s name.
At Harriet’s request, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia.
