Obituary for
Harold Fox
Fox, Harold Charles, M.W.O – Age 88, of Valley, passed away in serenity and peace on January 14, 2025, in Willow Lodge Home for Special Care, Tatamagouche. He was the son of Lloyd Gilbert and Marguerite (Chapman) Fox. He was married to Sarah Esther (White).
Harold was born in Valley, NS, to where he always loved to return after they moved away. Eventually, he made the move permanent in the 1970’s. He travelled to many places after entering the Armed Forces at the age of seventeen. He entered the R.C.E.M.E. division, retiring completely at the rank of Master Warrant Officer from Camp Aldershot, NS.
Harold was a lover of life, a kind teacher, a jovial jokester and a chivalrous gentleman. When he wasn’t telling stories of his worldly travels, he was tinkering in his garage, traipsing through the woods, dipping his fishing line in his favourite fishing hole, playing cards, bowling, dancing and working on his Wood-Mizer sawmill in his retirement years. He was always up to something, always willing to lend a helping hand and always there for those who were blessed to have crossed paths with him and call him family, friend or acquaintance. Harold’s heart was full for people and animals alike. He would always be the first to tell you not to feed the dog or cat at the table and the first to break his own rule. His family’s cheeks will always burn with the memories of his whisker rubs and the glee he had when he delivered them.
His zest, his kindness, his sneaky jokes and his loving heart will forever be in the stories told about him. Harold has touched the lives of many and will continue to live on in the countless fond memories that he gifted to us all.
Harold was predeceased by his parents, Lloyd and Marguerite Fox; his loving wife, Sarah Esther Fox; his oldest daughter, Theresa Cox; as well as his companion, Doris Rogers.
He is survived by his children, Darlene Fox (Vernon), Sandra Bates (Ray) and Larry Fox (Misty); his grandchildren, Nathan, Christine, Kaitlin and Lauren as well as his great grandchildren, Nicholas, Dominic, Keirha and Ava.
We, the family, would like to thank Kailyn Little, Jessica Lloyd and Melissa Hayden for all of their love, kindness and compassionate care of our father and grandfather for the last three years. We would also like to thank Willow Lodge for the amazing care and kindness they offered during his brief time with them.
Donations in memory of Harold Fox can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or to a charity of choice.
A visitation will be held on Monday, January 20, 2025, from 12pm until time of funeral service at 2pm, both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro. Webcasting of the service will begin at 1:58pm (AST).
