April 28, 2003 – February 15, 2025
It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved daughter, Hannah Marie Claire Capner, who passed away on February 15th, 2025. Hannah is predeceased by one of her favourite people, her grandmother Michele Meger, her great-grandmother Lena Meger, and grandfather Werner Meger. She leaves to mourn, her mother Ashley, father Kenny, her brother and best friend Gavin, step-sister Ashley, her grandfather Richard (Janis), her aunty Vanessa (Steven), cousins Jessica (Emmy, Brixxton), Brooklyn, Karissa, King, aunty Donna, her special fur-babies Precious and Tigger, and many more aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Hannah was born in Winnipeg, MB and grew up in Selkirk. She quickly went from a calm and content baby to a sassy vibrant toddler. Hannah had a great love for animals, especially her sweet pets, Tigger and Precious. This love began early in her life, when her dad couldn’t say no to getting her any animal. They had a special bond over horses together. But when it came to daily horse chores, Hannah was nowhere to be found but was the first one out there to ride. They would often spend time with the horses laying in the corral. She loved her regular family trips to Grand Forks. There, she would blow her budget on clothes, shoes, make-up, novelty candy and food. Mom’s trip then went from a small getaway to needing a new loan. Numerous family holidays were spent in the Caribbean. Many memories were made there. Among them were catamaran rides, and Hannah’s love for swimming with dolphins, walruses, seals, sting-rays, and sharks, just to name a few. Plenty of hot days were spent on the beach with her brother making sandcastles, boogie boarding, and swimming in the ocean. Like her grandma, she had a passion for cooking. Not even needing a recipe, Hannah would cook anything. Her specialty was chicken parmesan and pasta, but she did not quite have the knack for baking. She passed her love for cooking on to her brother when they would regularly bond over cooking dinner together, leaving the mess for mom. Being the same age, her and her cousin Brook spent a lot of time together. Their shenanigans ranged from sleepovers, late night drives in the city, to who knows what. These memories will be forever cherished.
Hannah left us far too soon. She had many dreams and passions left unfulfilled. We’re going to miss her smile, her sarcastic remarks, hearing her and her brother arguing over who’s right and who’s wrong, and the quick phone calls just to check in. We’ll miss the Christmases with the saran wrap game where Hannah always had to win the biggest prize and going for lunches and dinners where Hannah would always order a multitude of appetizers and never finish her actual meal. Her long phone calls are going to be missed and messages left for her brother that he always looked forward to. If I would have known that call on Friday was going to be the last, I would have made it longer. We’ll miss your loud contagious laugh, your big personality, infectious smile, and your ocean-blue eyes. Rest easy, my baby girl. You will forever be loved and missed, and our hearts will carry you with us always. We’ll take the best care of your fur-babies. Love Mom, Dad, and Gavin. There will be a private family service with cremation to follow on Friday February 28, there will be a celebration of life planned for Hannah but it’s going to take time to make it perfect. Date to be announced.
