Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gordon Alan Davies, known as Gord, on January 9, 2025. Gord passed away unexpectedly in his home, surrounded by his beloved family. At 46, his warmth and humour left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Beloved husband to Kaydean Davies and proud father of Mayra, Isabella, and Benjamin. His loyal companion, Bruno, was never far from his side. Gord cherished his role as a brother to Jeff and Julie Davies and a stepson to David Lawrence. He was a devoted son to Connie Lawrence and the late William “Bill” Davies, whose memory he carried dearly. He was a cherished brother-in-law to Mayra and Colin Mallett of Guelph and beloved uncle to Maureen and William Mallett. Gord’s family extended far and wide, including his loving mother in-law, Maria del Pilar Vargas, with whom he shared a close bond, and her family in Mexico.
A true pillar of his community, Gord found joy in coaching his children’s hockey and baseball teams, creating unforgettable memories and fostering a love of sports. He loved nothing more than hosting BBQs for his family and bringing everyone together to share food, laughter, and love.
Gord will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His legacy of love, laughter and unwavering support will forever remain in our hearts.
Visitation will be held at the Saugeen Shores Community Church, 650 Green St., Port Elgin on Tuesday January 14, 2025 from 5-8 p.m. A Service to Celebrate and honour Gord will be held at the Port Elgin United Church, 840 Bruce St., Port Elgin on Wednesday at 2 p.m. Reception to follow in the auditorium. Spring interment at Sanctuary Park Cemetery, Port Elgin.
Gord was a major supporter of Saugeen Shores Minor Baseball, he coached many times and truly focused on players having fun and developing, with that in mind, donations may be made to the Saugeen Shores Baseball Association in Gord’s memory. Any funds collected will be used responsibly and meaningfully to help young athletes grow both on and off the field. Donations may be given at either one of the gatherings for Gord, by a cheque made out to the Saugeen Shores Baseball or by cash. Donations may also be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation in Gord’s memory.
