IN LOVING MEMORY OF GLORIA BRADY (nee EWANCHUK)
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Gloria Brady at Concordia Place Personal Care Home on January 16, 2025.
Born in Dauphin, Manitoba, in 1926, Gloria was one of eleven siblings, growing up with four brothers and six sisters. In 1946, she married the love of her life, Anthony (Tony) Brady, and together they built a beautiful life in Winnipeg, filled with love, laughter and family.
Gloria was predeceased by her beloved husband Tony (2004) and dear daughter Cindy (2000). She is survived by her treasured daughter, Georgia, son-in-law Wayne, cherished grandson Bradley Anthony, loving granddaughter Tiffany, and adored great-granddaughters Isabella, Roxanna and Adelynne. She also leaves behind her sister Haloria, as well as her niece and nephews.
Gloria’s family was her world, and she was actively involved in the lives of her grandchildren. She deeply loved them and was immensely proud of their achievements. Growing up, Brad and Tiffany bicycled over to their grandparents’ house often, always welcomed with warmth, fun and a game of cards. Gloria always made time for them. Her cheeky wisdom and loving presence will be deeply missed.
When each of her great granddaughters were born she held them within a few hours of each of their births and it was love at first sight. She was a doting Great Nana who took great joy in spending time with « the girls », and watching them grow into their own unique personalities.
Gloria was among the first employees at Sears-Polo Park, working part-time in men’s wear and later ladies’ wear. She later joined Eaton’s-Polo Park before helping her husband Tony run Tony Brady Appliance Service, where she managed the phone calls for repairs.
She and Tony were fond of the St. James area, where they raised their family and welcomed their grandkids. Many summers were spent at their Grassy Lake cottage, where Gloria cherished time outdoors surrounded by family. She and Tony had a soft spot for budgie birds, keeping them as cherished pets over the years.
Gloria had a love for fashion, always dressing with elegance and style. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, creating beautiful handmade pieces for loved ones. She was also a fantastic baker, filling her home with the comforting scents of homemade treats. She was known for her playful and mischievous side – she would even sneak the odd cigarette out by the garage, keeping her spirit of independence alive.
Gloria was an avid reader and enjoyed being outdoors and tending to her flower garden in the summer, and visiting with family and friends. She loved to travel with Tony, making trips to California and Daytona Beach, Florida. One of her most cherished adventures was a trip to Hawaii with her precious daughter Cindy, sister Alice and Alice’s daughter-in-law Tina.
In her later years, she enjoyed walking the mall, always appreciating a good shopping trip. She also found excitement at the casino, having fun at the slot machines.
Throughout her years at Concordia Place Personal Care Home, her devoted daughter Georgia cared for her and visited regularly, ensuring she was always surrounded by love and comfort. Gloria was fascinated looking through Georgia’s pictures, watching videos, or facetiming with her grandkids and great-granddaughters. And the whole family loved attending all the lovely events hosted by the home throughout the year.
A private farewell. As per Gloria’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a private family service and interment will be held by invitation.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to the wonderful staff at Concordia Place Personal Care Home, where Gloria spent the last ten years of her life. Your kindness dedication, love, care and friendship will always be remembered.
Gloria’s love, laughter and wisdom will live on in the hearts of all who knew her
TOGETHER FOREVER
Tony, Cindy, Gloria
