Glen Brown Obituary
It is with broken hearts that the family of Glen Brown, announces his passing which occurred on Tuesday, March 4th, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Glen arrived into this world on April 15th, 1952 to Percy and Georgie Brown. Glen met the “love of his life” Mary Jean (Gilbert), as he told her many times and they married in 1973. From this union a daughter Laura (Bernard) and son Keith (Lori) arrived. Glen loved his children with all his heart and would do anything for them. His grandchildren Laurissa (Nick) and Harley were the apple of his eye as well as great-grandchildren Autumn, Isabella and Kylie. He always enjoyed their many visits, talks and hugs.
Glen worked as a Crane Operator at the Port Saint John ILA 273. He made many lasting friendships and said it was the best job he ever had. Glen’s passion was racing stock cars with car #27. He started at Hammond River Raceway and moved on to MASCAR Tour racing all over the Maritimes and Maine. He made many long-time friends. Glen stopped racing in 1997 when he suffered a severe stroke. That did not stop Glen from living a full life. Unfortunately, Cancer was not kind. He will be clearly be missed by his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; the back bone to this family.
Glen will also be missed by his brother Lloyd (Sharon); sisters Linda and Carol; sister-in-law Laurie (Hughie); brother-in-law Jim (Dawna); many nieces, nephews, cousins, as well as many friends; a special thank you to his right-hand man Ken Deveau until his last day. Glen’s garage was one of his favorite domains, especially with his Wednesday night shop crew.
A special thank you to COSTCO Pharmacists Clare and Amanda. Your extensive knowledge was extremely helpful to Mary Jean. To family physician Dr. Gareth van Neikerk, nurse Amy and receptionist Lisa. Thank you to Dr. Emily Love and Extra Mural (nurse Margaret Moore) for making it possible for Glen to stay home throughout this ordeal. Daughter Laura and wife Mary Jean were his special nurses. If not for their wonderful care to keep him comfortable and making it possible for Glen to spend his final months at home which was Glen’s wishes. Son Keith’s visits and many phone calls brought Glen joy and put a smile on his face. Keith knew his dad was done talking on the phone when he said “anywho” it was time to say goodbye and talk later.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (506-646-2424). As per Glen’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A Celebration of Glen’s Life will take place at a later date. Donations in memory of Glen may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
