Gilbert David Rawline
1935-2025
Gilbert David Rawline, 89,of Hillsborough passed away
peacefully on March 8th, 2025 at the Moncton
Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was
born in Salem, NB on October 1st, 1935 the son of the late
Lloyd and Nora (Steeves) Rawline.
Gilbert was a hard worker and was well known for
his ability to lay and refinish hardwood floors. He was also
a talented carpenter. He was always busy as he had
a great reputation of being one of the best in his industry.
He started in 1965 and continued his own business until his
retirement. He was community minded and had
volunteered with the Hillsborough Volunteer Fire Department for over
28 years and served for a time as Lieutenant. He was well known for
his willingness to help anyone who needed a hand. He and
Barb had spent many years on the Hillsborough Bowling League
and enjoyed it immensely. They also enjoyed
camping all over the maritimes and made great memories over the years
sitting by the campfires. His family was very important to
him. He was a great husband, dad and grampy. He
was never looking for glory or praise. He didn’t seek
recognition for his thoughtful caring ways. He lived with a
deep commitment providing for those he held dear. Steadfast
with a quiet strength through the laughter and the tears.
The most selfless man you could ever find. Gilbert was
always only a phone call away and it didn’t matter if it was
day or night he was on his way. He was known
for his calm demeanor and never panicking when
things got tough. He had a warm smile and great
laugh. Gilbert led by example and was a great role model for
all who knew him. He will live on in our hearts
forever.
He will be deeply missed by his wife and best friend of
over 66 years, Barbara (Lounsbury) Rawline; his daughter, Cheryl
Keiver (Dana) of Riverview, their children Kasey and Sara (Matt); and
son, Scott Rawline (Susan) of Pine Glen; his children, Brandon
(Andrea), Dylan (Grace) and Alyssa (Zack); precious great
grandchildren, Jackson, Evan, Blakley and was excitingly waiting for
the arrival of a new great granddaughter in July; sisters-in-law,
Alta, Erma (Harvey). He will also be missed by his several
nieces, nephews, cousins and fellow firefighters, neighbours and
friends.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his sister,
Lillian Gammon (Sherman); brother, William « Willie » Rawline
(Donna); sister-in-law Marguerite Burgess (Richard); brother-in-law,
Fraser Harrison; Nephew Kevin Gammon and niece Betty Ann (Burgess)
Waite.

sharing of memories and for refreshments. Interment will be
