Obituary of Gerard Bastien
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gerard Bastien on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at the age of 83. Gerard was the beloved husband of Darlene Bastien. He was a devoted father to the late Daniel, Donna (Wayne), and David; as well as his two stepchildren, Karlotta (Allen), and Travis (Anne). Loving companion to his furbaby, Itzy.
Gerard will be forever cherished by his eight siblings: Jeannine (late Ray), Pauline (Claude), Claudette (late Glen), Luke (Cheryl), Aline (late Larry), Paulette (late John), David (Brenda), and Clarisse (Roger). He will be deeply missed by his 4 grandchildren; Meghan (Chris), Samantha, Melinda , and Haley, as well as his 4 great-grandchildren; Karson, Deklan, Olivia, and Athena. Gerard was predeceased by his twin brother, Gerald (Joan), his infant brother, Victor, and his parents; Alice and Donat Bastien.
Being a man of many interests, Gerard loved fishing (both commercial and leisure), gardening, working on small engines, and playing guitar. His passions brought him great joy and connected him with family, friends, and the world around him.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the WELLAND FUNERAL HOME, CREMATION & RECEPTION CENTRE, 827 East Main St., Welland, ON. As per Gerard’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at the Optimist Club of Dunnville, 101 Main St. E., Dunnville, ON, from 2:00p.m. to 5:00p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Canadian Cancer Society in Gerard’s memory.
