Gerald Boucher Obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Gerald (Gerry) Boucher on January 16, 2025, one month after his 85th birthday. He leaves behind to mourn his wife of 62 years, the love of his life, Margaret-Rose (Gigi) (Black), daughter Christine (son-in-law Rick) Gondosch of Kitchener, and son Eric of Toronto. Cherished “Ampa” to Melanie (Patrick) Stuehler of Kitchener, and Alison Gondosch of Ottawa and “Ampapa” to Maudie and Georgia Stuehler. Beloved big brother to Robert (Gilberte) Boucher, Helene (Albert) Montfort, Neil (Nicole) Boucher, Mona-Lynne (Michael) Poeta, and Suzanne (Ken) Niemi. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. Gerry was predeceased by his parents Arthur and Lena and his brother David (Celine).
Although Gerry was born in Iroquois Falls, he spent most of his working life in Kapuskasing before retiring to North Bay. He was an elite athlete who excelled at football in high school. He was most known, however, for being a premier fastball pitcher who was on several All-Ontario winning teams. He spent the majority of his working career in Human Resources at Spruce Falls and was very well-liked and respected by his co-workers. Gerry possessed an incredible memory and was renowned for remembering the payroll number of every person he ever hired. You wanted him as your partner in Trivial Pursuit.
Upon retiring, Gerry loved to spend time at his cottage on Remi Lake and play golf with all his senior buddies. He and Marg were also blessed to spend many winters in Florida. He had the ability to make friends with all who met him and was known to tease, albeit gently. His greatest love, however, was his family. He was so proud of al of them and looked forward to any calls, texts, or videos.
A very big thank you goes out to Dr. Rotundo and the wonderful staff in the Palliative Wing at the North Bay Regional Health Centre. Donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be much appreciated.
The family will be receiving visitors at McGuinty Funeral Home (North Bay) on Saturday January 25, 2025, between the hours of 11 am to 2 pm.
