It is with great sadness that Georgia Lyons (nee Johnston) of Sutton, Ontario, passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at the young age of 95. She will forever remain in our hearts.
Georgia, fondly known as Georgie, was born and raised in Toronto and was one of seven children, right in the middle actually, to Margaret and Sam Johnston. Georgia leaves behind a profound legacy remembered by her family and friends. She was an active member of the Eastern Star as well as the Daughters of Nile, she joined the Drum Core, and the Red Hat Society and belonged to the Salvation Army church. Georgia traveled the world including the United Kingdom, Europe, China, and Russia. Although she loved wherever she went, her heart remains in Northern Ireland.
Georgia was predeceased by her husband Harvey Lyons; and her sons, Ron and Harvey Jr. (Squeak) Lyons, her sisters, Helen (and Art Roberts), Effie (and Lorne Thomson), Grace (and Roy Lovely), Pat (and Bob Cyr), Jacquline (and Bernie Shelburne) and her only brother, Sam (and Anne) Johnston.
Georgia is survived by her granddaughters, Kelly Lyons-Perry and Darcie Lyons-Hutton and her great grandchildren, Tristan and Connor Perry and Mathilda Hutton and her too many to mention, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Monday, January 6 from 11:00 to 12:00, at the Salvation Army Georgina Community Church 1816 Metro Road N, Jackson’s Point ON. An Eastern Star Service will be held at 12 p.m. with the funeral service following. Memorial Donations to the Salvation Army Georgina Community Church would be appreciated by the family.
