It is with heavy hearts that the family of Georges Pius
Arsenault announces his passing on February 6, 2025 after a 28 years
battle with brain cancer. Georges was born in Moncton 70 years ago and
was the son of late Isidore and Marie-Anne (nee Richard)
Arsenault.
He is survived by his common-law-partner, Doris Poirier,
along with his first wife, Gloria (nee Girouard) Arsenault, and mother
of his sons: Marc (Jean-Sebastien) and Serge (Marie-Christine
Marquis), brother Leonce (Azele), sisters: Ruth Anderson (late Jim)
and Charline Collin (Daniel), sister-in-law Claudianne Arseneault,
nephews: Jacques and Pierre Collin, Shane Anderson, and nieces:
Micheline Boudreau (Dave), Nanette Arsenault, along with step-daughter
Jessica Gough (Justen), grandson Evander and step-son Jake
Poirier.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother Bernard
(Bernie).
He graduated from Vanier High School and then began his
career at CN where he worked until his retirement.
Georges spent so many wonderful summers at the cottage in
Cocagne with his boys Marc and Serge; these were some of the best
years! The cottage was « location
central » for so many family reunions, bond fires,
lobster and corn boils with many friends. Where many card
and horse shoes games with his brothers and brothers-in-law, all while
enjoying a few beers!
While his boys were growing up, supporting their activities
was important to him. Georges loved playing his sports from softball
to hockey. He absolutely loved his many goaltending years with many
teams and the fabulous Nifty Fifties. So many games were played and
with too many goals scored against him to count. Go Habs Go
was his motto.
He had a fascination with music. When he was a teenager. he
often carried a small transistor radio to listen to the latest hit
songs. He was one smooth dancer on that dance floor. He just had the
music in him. But singing was his thing! The
« CROONER » licence plates on
the Miata Convertible says it all. He sang all the top songs from the
era of Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennet, etc. Somehow he managed
to sign-up for every Karaoke contest around and he did win a few along
the way. A memorable night still stands out in Nashville TN at Wanna
B’s as spectacular. During his travels, he always looked for
a stage, a microphone and a Karaoke machine; he had so much fun just
singing out loud with that big voice. He loved to laugh and tease
people; just because!
His cancer journey was challenging at times but he just kept
on moving forward; he had excellent support from his family and
friends which he greatly appreciated.
To Doris and Gloria, Thank You for all your love over the
years! He could not have done this journey without you.
To his Boys, Marc and Serge, I hope you know how much he
loves you guys.
To Charline, his RN sister, he told me to tell you the
following: Thanks for being there all this time!
Georges said that he will keep sending out all his LOVE to
all his family and all his friends forever.
Dear Georges, Don’t worry we will look over your
special people for a long long time; go and rest now. We will miss you
forever!
In memory of Georges, in lieu of flowers, donations can be
made to Hospice SENB – Maison Albert House, the Canadian Cancer
Society or charity of choice.
To the medical team of Dr. Sarah Ironside, Dr. Dhany Charest,
Dr. Pierre Whitlock and their respective support team members
including all the personnel at the Dr. Sheldon Rubin Oncology Clinic
and the Dr-Léon-Richard Oncology Centre, a heartfelt Thank
You from Georges and his family for all that you’ve done
over the years.
To the Staff at Albert House: You are all wonderful people!

The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and
Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (506-858-1900) on Tuesday
February 11, 2025 from 7 to 9 pm and on Wednesday February 12, 2025
from 10 am until the beginning of the Celebration of Life at 11 am
with Father Guy Legendre officiating. There will be a reception
following the service in the funeral home reception
centre.
Cremation has taken place with private family interment at a
later date in Sainte-Marie, N.B.
