Gary Mader, Age 77, of Middle Sackville, it is with great sadness the family of Gary Mader announce
his passing on February 3 rd , 2025. Born in Halifax, Gary was the son of the late Louis and
Charlotte Ann (Firth) Mader. He was predeceased by his wife Davelyn (Zinck) Mader,
who he dearly missed. Besides his wife and parents, Gary was predeceased by brothers
George and Beau Mader.
Gary was dearly loved and is survived by his son Dave (Shonda) Mader; and daughter
Beth Mader, grandchildren, Megan and Austin, and Estelle and Adam. He also leaves
behind extended family members along with countless friends and neighbours.
In earlier years Gary worked in sales and was a self-employed electrician and courier but
will always be remembered for driving a Sears truck in the 28 years he worked as a
Refrigeration-AC and Appliance Repairman. Gary enjoyed many hobbies
such as “playing” in the garage doing body work or some type of mechanical repair and
taking his Mustang for a spin. In later years, Gary’s happiest moments were when he
was spending time with his grandchildren. Friends and family will miss Gary’s sense of
humour, kindness, and his helpful nature. They will also greatly miss seeing him sitting
on his front porch and having him around to ask, “can you take a look at this.” The
family would like to thank the numerous paramedics and the local Station 10 Fire Hall as
well as a very special thank you to the many staff at the Cobequid Community Health
Centre.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 12, in Christ Church, 61
Dundas St. in Dartmouth (corner of Ochterloney and Wentworth Streets). A reception
will follow in the church hall. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Freedom
Kitchen at Knox United Church in Lower Sackville or by specifying Freedom Kitchens via
e-transfer to donations@knoxsackville.ca.
