Frank’s Obituary
Frank Wilfred Longley – Age 87 of Lawrencetown, NS passed away Friday, January 24, 2025, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Middleton, NS he was the son of the late Alan Wilfred and Blanche Elizabeth (Regan) Longley.
Frank is survived by his wife of 67 years, Carole (Martyn); sister Mary-Lou (Owen) Beals, Middleton, NS; son Frank Jr (Kimi), Owen Sound, ON; son Ken (Alison) Lockport, NS; daughter in-law Nancy Vanasse, North Williamston, NS; nieces Suzanne and Cindy; nephews Tracy, Chase, Bryce and Trent; and his favourites the grandchildren Nathan, Nicole, Julian, Emily, Josh and Jayme.
Besides his parents, Frank was predeceased by daughter, Linda Louise; son, Neil Robert, both in infancy and son, David Michael.
Frank was employed as a driver with Irving Oil and Ben’s Bakery. He loved the outdoors hunting, fishing, camping, canoeing and later in life learned to love golf and enjoyed his time spent at Eden Golf & Country Club as a member and volunteer. He was also a volunteer with the Lawrencetown Fire Department for many years where he made many great friends.
Although he may have needed to be coaxed once in a while to actually say the words he loved his family, he also cared deeply for his community and the people in it. His favourite places to be were the fire hall, Eden Golf and his shop. His goal every day was to make someone smile or chuckle with his smart aleck humour. You will always be reminded of him through the many chairs and bird houses he crafted in his shop that are spread throughout the province, so when you see one or sit in one think of him and smile.
We’d like to thank all of his friends that were there to lend a helping hand and everyone who visited or called to lift his spirits during his battle with pulmonary fibrosis. A special thanks to Dr Burch and the palliative care team, Dr Asiedu, as well as the VON nursing and homecare groups for helping to keep him as comfortable as possible.
In keeping with Frank’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held 3:00pm-5:00pm on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at the Lawrencetown Fire Hall, 549 Main Street, Lawrencetown. Please feel free to drop by and share stories and dress casually as Frank never liked to be formal. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery at a later date.
Donations in Frank’s memory may be made to Lawrencetown & District Volunteer Fire Department or Fairview Cemetery, Lawrencetown.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., toll free 1-855-825-3448. Online guest book may be signed by visiting: www.middletonfuneralhome.com
