Frances Ada Buryk, (nee Robinson), age 90 years young, passed away February 11, 2025 at the U of A Hospital in Edmonton, AB.
Frances was born in Saskatoon, SK on December 23. 1934. She grew up on the family farm near Ituna, SK and attended Beaverside School and finished High School in Colonsay, SK. She took a job with Sasktel in 1952 as a telephone operator where she worked for 14 years in Canora, Humbolt, Saskatoon and Swift Current, SK.
Frances was introduced to the love of her life Peter on a blind date in 1953. They were married on July 7, 1956. Frances and Peter spent almost 69 years together living in many different towns and pursuing various business ventures in Saskatchewan. They welcomed their only son John in 1973.
Frances was most well known for her time as Owner and Operator of the Crystal Lake Golf Course and for her famous hamburgers that she made for the patrons of the golf course and the kids who spent their summers at Crystal Lake, SK. After selling the golf course in 1977 and retiring to an acreage at Crystal Lake, Frances remained busy enjoying her many hobbies such as curling, golf, gardening, cross country skiing, baking and birding.
After spending 40 years at Crystal Lake, Fran and Peter moved to Saskatoon in 2011 and then to Sherwood Park, AB in 2013 to be closer to their son John and his family as well as Fran’s brother Edward.
Frances is predeceased by her beloved parents Florence and Edward Robinson as well as brother Edward Robinson Jr. Frances is survived by her loving husband Peter, son John (wife Erin) Buryk, granddaughter Carly and grandson Alexander. In keeping with her wishes Frances will be cremated and later interned at the Glenwood Cemetery in Sherwood Park, Alberta. She will be greatly missed for her always positive attitude, kind smile and warm hugs. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice, in Frances’s name.
