Flora « June »
Toole – 90, North River, passed away peacefully, with her
family at her side, on Monday, April 21, 2025 at the Colchester East
Hants Health Centre. Born in North River, Mom was the daughter of
Foster and Leora Mackenzie.
Along with her
parents, Mom is predeceased by our dad, Charlie. Dad, from
across the North River, was married to Mom for 38 years. Mom spent
many years in the rinks of Colchester County cheering loudly for Dad
and his hockey teams. She was a past member and actively
involved in the North River United Church.
Mom is survived by her
sons, Terry (Eileen) and Tracy (Joanne) both of North River. She was
most proud of her grandchildren who she adored. Jennifer (Serge) and
their children, Théo and Beckham, Billy, Courtney, Tamara,
Emma and Charles (Ella). Mom is also survived by sister-in-law, Larry
and nieces and nephew.
Mom was predeceased by
her beloved brother, Vonnie and her dear friend, Denny Coupar who she
shared many adventures with.
Mom attended the one
room North River School across the road from her home and lived her
entire life in North River. In 2000, she was honored to be part of the
organizing committee for the 100-year reunion of the old North River
School. She started her working career at Munroe’s
Jewelry then to Barnhill’s Transfer followed by Moffat
Bros. Mom ended her career at Wilson’s Equipment.
She valued the relationships formed throughout her working
career.
Mom enjoyed going to
‘the shore’, walks with her friends and her
travels to various locations. She always enjoyed going to the dances
and attending church suppers. Mom liked spending time with her grand
fur babies – Milo, Charlie, Millie and Hank.
We would like to thank
the staff of Miller Lane, Vimy Court for the care and attention paid
to Mom over the past two years. Also, thanks to the staff of E3 and
the Palliative Care Unit of the Colchester East Hants Health
Center.
Arrangements have been
entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young
Street, Truro where the family will receive friends from 4-6 pm on
Friday, April 25, 2025 and from where a funeral service honoring Mom
will be held 3 pm on Saturday, April 26, 2025, Reverend Phillip
Kennedy officiating. Private family interment will follow in Aenon
Cemetery, North River. In lieu of flowers, donations to Aenon
Cemetery, North River or the Canadian Cancer Society are
welcomed.
