It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Evelyn Hunt (nee Strickland) on January 1, 2025, at A.M. Guy Long Term Care Center in Buchans, NL at the age of 100.

She was pre-deceased by her husband, Peter (1991); parents, Albert and Sarah Strickland; 5 siblings; daughter, Emma King (2017); and son-in-law, Roy Kearley (2016).
Evelyn was born and grew up in Gaultois, met her husband, Peter and together they raised their 4 girls and 2 boys. While living in Gaultois, she was involved with many organizations as a volunteer. In 1991, she moved to Bay d’Espoir and resided with her daughter, Emma and son-in-law, Danny. In 2017, she resided with her daughter, Julia, until November of 2024 when she went to A.M Guy Long Term Care Facility in Buchans.
Evelyn was passionate about her love for her family and friends, her faith, playing and listening to music, telling stories of days gone by and her past time of knitting and crocheting. She was a proud woman and loved to always look and feel her best; the more sparkle the better. She dearly loved Christmas, spending time with family, special visits from the minister and visits from her friends.
Evelyn’s legacy of love and faith will be forever carried on through her family and loved ones. She will be deeply missed and be forever remembered by those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to her home care workers, Pam and Vera as well as the staff of A.M. Guy Long Term Care Center in Buchans to whom the family will be forever grateful for the gentle and respectful care that was provided to Evelyn in later years.
Cremation has taken place and a service will be held at a later date.
-You are gone, but thank you for all those soft, sweet things you left behind; In my home, in my head, in my heart.
