It is with heavy
hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Ella MacDonald on
February 1, 2025, at the age of 80. Ella was the cherished daughter of
Bert and Mary (nee O’Connor) Hamill, and a loving wife to
Blair, with whom she shared 63 years of marriage. Their love story
began in 1960, and over the decades, Blair remained her steadfast
partner, confidant, and greatest supporter. Together, they built a
life filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories.
Their enduring bond was a testament to the deep affection they held
for one another—a love that stood the test of time and will
live on in the hearts of all who knew them.
Ella was a devoted
mother to her children Michelle (Sam, deceased), Greg (Marietta),
Dennis (deceased), and Patrick (Holly). She was also the proud
grandmother to Candice, Danielle, Jesse, Christopher, and Benjamin,
each of whom held a special place in her heart. She adored her
great-grandchildren, Jackson, and Kennedy.
Ella’s love
and devotion to her family were the cornerstones of her life. She was
a caring sister to Audrey, Marylou, Barbara, Louis, Kathy, and
Richard; and a beloved aunt to her many nieces and nephews, each of
whom she treasured deeply. Her unwavering support and love for them
all, created bonds that will never be forgotten.
Ella was raised on the
family farm in the closeknit community of Middleton, Prince Edward
Island, where her love of gardening and the simple joys of life were
nurtured. Those early years shaped her strong work ethic, deep sense
of community, and a lifelong connection to the beauty of the
Island.
For many years, Ella
and Blair made their home in Moncton, New Brunswick, where they
continued to build their life.
An enthusiastic
educator, Ella dedicated many years of her life to the education
system, where she had the privilege of working with countless
« children, » both in and out of the classroom. She took
immense pride in nurturing young minds and leaving a lasting impact on
her students and their families.
Ella’s love
for her family was only rivaled by her love of summers spent at the
family cottage on Prince Edward Island. Those summers, filled with
laughter, nature, and the company of dear friends, brought Ella
immense joy and peace.
Ella was known for her
passionate spirit, strength, determination to help others, kindness,
compassion, and dedication that will live on in the hearts of all who
knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, warmth, and generosity
that will continue to inspire us all.
A celebration of life
will be held for family and friends at a later
date.
Ella will be deeply
missed, but her memory will remain forever in our
hearts.
