Edith (Edie) McDonough
1 July 1939 to 8 March 2025
On Saturday March 8th we said a bittersweet goodbye to our mother, wife and grandmother, Edie McDonough, who passed away peacefully in the company of her immediate family.
Edie was born on 1 July 1939 in Quinton, Saskatchewan to Joseph and Anastasia Trohak and spent her childhood years in Arbury. As a teacher in northern Saskatchewan, she met and married Richard (Rick) Ainsworth, moving to Moose Jaw and subsequently to other Saskatchewan communities.
Following Rick’s death, Edie married Ken McDonough, bringing together two families who had been close for many years. Upon their retirement, Edie and Ken moved to Vancouver Island, returning a few years later to their favorite city, Saskatoon.
She was predeceased by her parents, her sister Elaine and brother, Jerome and her first husband Rick. She is survived by her children, David, Todd and Jocelyn, her husband Ken McDonough and his children, Graham, Meghan and Raynell, and her siblings Cecile Daradich, Jean Trohak, and Louise Peck. She was grandma to seven grandchildren: Konrad, Joshua, Thomas, Julian, Josef, Avery, and Tommy.
Edie will be fondly remembered for her commitment to the organization Peace and Development and her love of nature and travel. She treasured the time she spent at Candle Lake. She was an avid reader, and known for her kind hospitality.
A celebration of life will be held for Edie later in the spring of this year.
