Edith (Edie) Sahaidak Obituary
Edith “Edie” Sahaidak
(nee Bobrovich)
June 8, 1950 – April 18, 2025
After a short battle with cancer, surrounded by the love of her family, our beloved, Edith “Edie”, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, on the most fitting of days, Good Friday, April 18th, 2025.
Edie was survived by her children Shelley (Dan), Dale (Tara); her grandchildren Matthew (Isabelle), Andrea, Shane, Brianna and Kaitlyn; her great grandson Jaxon, her siblings Margaret (Barry), Shirley (Ken), Mike, Dennis (Lana), Rosemary (Ron), Janie (Bob), Lucy (Wayne), Frances (Joe), Joe (Linda), sister-in-law Lora and numerous nephews and nieces.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband John, her stillborn son Matthew and her brother Fred.
Edie was a woman of unwavering faith whose deepest desire was to grow ever closer to the Lord. Her life was a living testament to the power of grace, love, and service. Her joy and strength came from her faith, which sustained her through every chapter of life.
On September 20, 1969, Edie married the love of her life, John. Together they built a beautiful life and were blessed with two children Shelley and Dale, whom Edie adored beyond measure. Her devotion to her children and grandchildren knew no bounds—she was their biggest cheerleader, caregiver, and constant source of wisdom and love.
Edie and John moved several times throughout their marriage, eventually returning to her family homestead so she could support and care for both her mother and her mother-in-law.
Summers found Edie in her incredible garden from sunrise to dusk, her hands deep in the soil she so lovingly tended. Her kitchen was filled with the aromas of her famous pickles, perogies, pies, biscuits and cabbage rolls – treasures she proudly shared at the Arnes Farmer’s Market each weekend.
Known for her boundless energy, Edie was rarely still. She didn’t believe in wasting a minute and used every spare moment to connect with loved ones, whether through a friendly visit or a spirited game night. Her twinkling eyes and radiant smile lit up every room she entered.
Her deep knowledge of gardening and canning earned her the affectionate nickname “EncycloEdiea,” and her lightning-fast pace inspired another— “Speedy.” She was always in motion, always doing, always giving.
Edie leaves behind a legacy of faith, joy, and unconditional love. While our hearts ache with her absence, we take comfort in knowing she is now in the presence of the Lord she loved so dearly. Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and her impact everlasting.
We will miss her more than words can express, but we rejoice in her heavenly homecoming.
“I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:14
A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
