MAYER, Donna
1944 – 2025
Mrs. Donna Joy Mayer (nee Wallace) passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at the age of 80 years. Donna was born on December 22, 1944, at Red Deer, Alberta to Helen and John Wallace. Donna was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and a great friend to everyone. She was a compassionate and dedicated Nurse’s Aide who cared for others with kindness and devotion. Her gentle nature and unwavering commitment touched the lives of many. In time, Donna met her cherished husband, Alvin, and together, they shared sixty years of love and partnership. They made their home in Calgary, Alberta, where they raised their family. In their later years, they moved to a farm in Elmworth, Alberta, before eventually settling in Red Deer. During the winter months, they adventured to Arizona, where they enjoyed the warmth and beauty of the desert. Donna found great comfort in family life, cherishing countless family trips, camping adventures, and special moments spent with loved ones. She and Alvin were also deeply involved in their community, always eager to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. In her quieter moments, Donna enjoyed expressing her creativity through various crafts, finding happiness in the art of making something beautiful with her hands. Although she is no longer with us, Donna’s love and spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Donna will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Alvin; her children, Kurt (Laura) and Carrie (Doug); her grandchildren, Christopher, Erika (Justin), Alicia (Parshant), Samantha, and Maxwell; and her great grandchildren, Julie and Milo. She will also be sadly missed by her sisters, Peggy and Leslie (Joe); her brothers, Richard (Maureen), Bill (Marg), Bud (Lucille), Bobby (Heather), and Allen (Heather); as well as numerous other family members and dear friends. Donna was predeceased by her parents, Helen and John Wallace; her sisters, Anita, Audrey, Lillian, Anne, May, and Glenda; and her brothers, Jackie and Andy.
A poem to remember Donna….
A wife, a mother, and a grandma too,
This is the legacy we received from you.
You taught us to love.
You gave us strength.
A stronger person would be hard to find,
And in your heart, you were always kind.
You fought for us all in one way or another.
Not just as a wife, not just as a mother.
For all of us, you gave your best.
And now the time has come for you to rest.
So go in peace, you have earned your sleep,
Your love in our hearts we’ll eternally keep.
