With bittersweet rejoicing the family of Donald Reginald Willam Furtah announces he has made his final turn home on Saturday, January 18, 2025. At age 94, he has earned his rest among those who have gone before him. All who had trusted in Christ as their Redeemer. Home held a very special place in his heart here on earth. He shared and provided for this earthly home with his beloved wife Delia (Dee) for 71 years. Home is where he always wanted to be. Home is where he taught and loved a son Dennis and daughter Lori (Willy) Druer. Home is where his grandchildren Amber (Jesse), Austin (Lidia), Holly (Kodey) and his great grandchildren Riley, Aiden, Autumn, Noah felt special and very much cherished. Where he was introduced to the many who would be added to his family. He has now been reunited with his parents Donald ‘Doc’ and Velma Furtah and with his late sister Patricia ‘Pat’.
Now, he is tending the gardens of our forever home. Eagerly waiting and anticipating all who will join him. He was a great provider, worker, and friend to many. He spent the majority of his life at Benn’s Iron Foundry. He was a jack of all trades and found pleasure in solving problems. He took pleasure in life’s task and found extra joy in gardening, art, music and serving others. The Salvation Army was a cornerstone in his relationship with Christ. He enjoyed listening to songs of praise; with clapping and toe tapping joy. His smile lit up the room and he had a childlike joy about him. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him, especially nieces Patty, Kim (Paul) and Ken (Sue). Don will be laid to rest at Riverview Cemetery during a private service under the care of Haycock-Cavanagh Funeral Home, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg (519-627-3231).
