The family is heartbroken to announce the passing of Dennis Patrick Mulvihill, aged 76, on Wednesday, February 12, 2025.
Dennis was born on July 22, 1948, in Manitoba, to Kevin and Fern Mulvihill. The family soon moved to Regina, where he grew up with his two sisters, Patti and Karen, and his brother, Gary. Summers at Katepwa were a highlight of his childhood. He attended Campion College, excelling academically, and later went to the University of Saskatchewan. In 1969, Dennis met and married Vicki, the love of his life. Together, they faced life’s challenges and had three children: Sara, Patrick, and Daniel.
Dennis began his career in Investment Banking with Houston Willoughby, which later became RBC Dominion Securities. His career journey took him and his family across the country, each move bringing new challenges and experiences. He excelled in his roles and became a respected leader and mentor to many.
Dennis was known for his wonderful sense of humour, kind heart, quick wit, and unwavering generosity. He touched the lives of all who knew him. Dennis loved sports and was a regular at every Rider game, cheering on his home team. Serving on the Board of Directors with the Saskatchewan Roughriders during the 2013 home Grey Cup winning season was the honour of his lifetime.
Dennis was always ready to shoot hoops or play ball with his kids and grandkids. He enjoyed playing Trivial Pursuit, card, and board games. With his competitive spirit, one had to be cautious when playing these games with him, especially cards with Vicki, as he was known to bend the rules. He was a kid at heart, most evident at Christmas and at the lake.
Dennis was an avid reader with a constant thirst for knowledge and loved reading newspapers. He cherished the arts, music, and his community, supporting both strongly. Dennis had an innate passion for the province of Saskatchewan, evidenced by his involvement in the community. His work with the Globe Theatre, Mulvihill House at the Athol Murray College of Notre Dame, and the Hospitals of Regina Foundation are but a few examples of his legacy. During his career, Dennis helped broker some of the most formative investment deals in the province’s history and greatly valued his time as Chairman of the board of POS Bio-Sciences.
However, if you asked Dennis about his greatest accomplishment, he would likely tell you it was his family. There was nothing he wouldn’t do for them. He was always there to lend a sympathetic ear, offer sound advice, or share a corny joke.
Dennis is survived by his loving wife, Vicki; his children, Sara (Scott) and Daniel (Annick); his beloved grandchildren, Caleb, Payton, Aidan, and Meghan; his sisters, Patti and Karen; and his brother, Gary. He was predeceased by his parents; his son, Patrick; sister-in-law, Teresa; and brother-in-law, Barry.
Dennis will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of kindness and love will continue to live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
A Private Memorial Service will be held by the family at a later date. Dennis and his family ask that the next time you’re out at your favourite restaurant with friends or family, you raise a glass to Dennis and toast to a true gentleman and a fine man.
