DAVID WINSTON GILLILAND, P. Eng (Masters in Mechanical Engineering- Queen’s University)
Passed away at Brockville General Hospital at the age of 84 years on Tuesday, March 11, 2025. He was the only son of Lila Bell Gilliland (nee Foster) and David Earl Gilliland.
He was the loving partner of Marla Anne Gilliland (nee Thomson) and the father of Karim Gilliland (Pierre), Joshua Gilliland (Melissa) and Aaron Gilliland (Andria) and the wonderful grandfather of Daniel Gilliland-Rocque (Alia), Rene Gilliland-Rocque (Paulina), Abbey Gilliland and Rowan Gilliland. Mourning his loss are his sisters-in-law Barbara Cruickshank, Joyce Tomkinson (deceased) and Rose Turner (Neil). He will be missed by his little dachshund, Brandy.
David spent his career at DuPont/Invista in Maitland. He loved good wine, good friends and good seafood. He was born in Victoria, British Columbia. and the family moved to Dawson City, Yukon for his elementary schooling, where his father was the Bank of Montreal Bank Manager. He earned his P. Eng. at the University of British Columbia, and then a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering at Queen’s University in his forties.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Irvine Funeral Home & Chapel, 4 James St., E., Brockville, on Friday, May 9th, 2025 from 2 to 4 p.m. with Words of Remembrance at 3 p.m. in the Reception Centre. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Brockville General Hospital Foundation, Palliative Care or the charity of one’s choice would be greatly appreciated by David’s family.
