Obituary of Dan Lister
It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Daniel “Dan” Earle Lister on February 2, 2025, at the age of 40. He was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend whose kindness, generosity, and dedication touched the lives of everyone he encountered. Born in St. Stephen, on May 25, 1984, the son of Vernon and Patricia (MacLeod) Lister. He lived his childhood years in Harvey.
Daniel is survived by his loving wife, Kendra (Dickison), two beautiful children, Dylan and Claire, father, Vernon (Sue) of St. Andrews, three sisters Virginia Jackson (Jason) of St. Stephen, Margaret Lister (Rachael) of Charlottetown and Katherine Lister-Clark (Matt) of Marysville. Grandmother Ann Lister of Harvey, mother and father-in-law Dodie and Ann Dickison of Miramichi, sisters-in-law Andrea Dickison (Andrew) of Miramichi, Megan Jamieson (Matthew) of Miramichi. Daniel will also be missed by several aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins, and numerous friends. Dan was predeceased by his mother, Patricia, his grandparents DeWitt Lister, Arnold and Margaret MacLeod.
As a father, Dan was nothing short of extraordinary. His love for his children knew no bounds, and he was an ever-present source of strength, guidance, and unwavering support. His nurturing nature extended beyond his immediate family, always making time for those he cared about. His warm spirit, humor, and infectious smile will be missed by all who knew him.
Dan was a devoted friend and a pillar of his community. He had an innate ability to connect with others and was always ready to lend a helping hand, offering support to those in need. His involvement and contributions to his community were evident in everything he did, and his efforts to make the world around him a better place will never be forgotten.
An avid curling enthusiast, Dan dedicated countless hours to the sport, both as a competitor and as a coach. His passion for curling was matched only by his commitment to teaching the next generation of players. Whether he was on the ice or off, Dan was a respected and admired figure within the curling community, always striving to help others excel while fostering camaraderie and teamwork. He also volunteered on the ice crew at his curling club, ensuring events ran smoothly and supporting the game he loved.
In addition to his love for curling, Dan was a respected leader within the Masonic Lodge. As Worshipful Master, he demonstrated profound wisdom and dedication to the organization and its members. Most recently, he held the position of Treasurer, where his meticulous attention to detail and steadfast leadership continued to shape and strengthen the Lodge for future generations.
Dan leaves behind a legacy of love, leadership, and community service. His absence leaves a profound void, but his impact on all who knew him will live on in the countless lives he touched and the many contributions he made to his family, friends, and community.
A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025, beginning at 6:00 pm, at The Capital Winter Club, located at 232 Rookwood Avenue, Fredericton, NB. Arrangements are in the care of McAdam’s Funeral Home, 160 York St., Fredericton, NB.
In lieu of flowers, for those who wish to, memorial donations may be given in trust for Dylan and Claire, in care of Kendra Lister, Capital Region Mental Health and Addictions Assoc. or donor’s choice.
Dan, in every act of kindness, in every shared laugh, in every childhood memory, we will carry your spirit with us. Thank you for being the one and only you. Your love, dedication, and legacy will inspire each of us who were blessed enough to know you. We will love you forever.
