1956-2025
The family of Dale Myron Sloan of Smithfield, NB are deeply saddened
to announce his unexpected passing at the young age of 68, on
Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional
Hospital in Fredericton, New Brunswick. Dale was born on March 6th,
1956 in Harvey Station, NB. He was the son of the late Percy M. Sloan
and Pertice M. (Tracy) Sloan and June (Newell) Sloan.
Dale is survived by his wife, Deborah (Phillips) Sloan; daughters,
Shawna Sirois and her children Emma and Allie, and Chantelle Riley,
her husband Scott, and their children Brooklyn, Luke and Jake; his
siblings, Marilyn Short (Ronnie), Vivian McDonald (Johnny), twin
sister Darlene Donahue (Patrick), Junie Gillespie (late Wendell), Mark
Sloan (Angie) and Laurel Sloan; his father-in-law Noel Phillips;
in-laws in the Phillips family, Rev. Phil Phillips (Sherry), Dianne
Phillips, Vicky Thomas (Ken) and Maureen Lyon (Ben); an aunt, Barb
Sloan; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents and his mother-in-law Dorothy
Phillips.
Dale loved being outdoors, and could always be found either tinkering
in the yard with his many vehicles and tractors, or cutting wood at
his woodlot in Magaguadavic. Dale was also deeply devoted to the Lord,
serving as a long standing board member of the Ben Lyons Evangelistic
Association, as well as serving many hours as a board member and the
bass player at Turning Point Pentecostal Church.
Dale was known for his infectious laughter and his good-hearted
humour. Dale never met a stranger; he was always friendly and kind to
everyone he met, always willing to lend a hand or tell a joke.
Visiting hours will be held at Turning Point Pentecostal Church, 2031
Route 3, Harvey Station, NB on Monday, February 17, 2025 from 5 to 8
p.m. A funeral service will be held at the church on Tuesday,
February 18, 2025 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Roger Cole officiating.
Interment will take place later at Sunny Bank Cemetery in
Magaguadavic, NB.
Scott Riley will be an honorary pallbearer and active pallbearers will
be Luke Riley, Jake Riley, Shelby Swan, Chad Donahue, Devon Donahue
and John Everett.
