Daisy Poole was born to Ella and Peter Poole, the oldest of four children. The family resided in Cottlesville. When Daisy was a young teenager she got tangled up the Ivan Anstey of Summerford and in no time at all they started a family and a baby boy was born, followed by eight more children. They were no strangers to sadness with the loss when their young son David and their baby girl.
In the mid 80’s Daisy started her working career at the fish plant in Comfort Cove at the start of the Crab Fishery. After that she started fishing with Ivan and John in the Basin Tickle.
With seven adult children it wasn’t long when grandchildren came along. They were her world, from feeding, clothing, changing, sickness, trips, school concerts, weddings and even births of the great-grandchildren, she enjoyed ever moment and wouldn’t miss a thing. Love does not describe what she felt for each one of them, she missed them when they didn’t come around.
Daisy could be found at every town event, the kitchen was her happy place and she volunteered for everything. If she wasn’t asked she wanted to know why.
Daisy enjoyed adventures and would go anywhere she was asked. The rides in car, trip to Toronto and the USA was right up her ally. Willing to try anything!
It was unexpected and overwhelming when she started to get sick this past fall, the last two months have gone by like a blink of an eye as we watched the woman that helped shape us fade, as the sickness took over. On February 17th in the evening she left this earthly home and went to her heavenly home. Rest well Mother AKA Nanny Mom!
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all Daisy’s home support workers Bonnie, Christine, Kaitlyn and Irene.
