It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Concetta (Connie) Ursitti on May 30th, 2025, at the age of 84. After a brief illness of just 20 days, Mom took her final breath surrounded by her loving family at Humber River Hospital in Toronto.
Born on October 16, 1940, in Villavallelonga, Abruzzo, Italy. Concetta was the beloved wife of the late Gerardo Ursitti. She was a devoted and loving mother to Claudio (Franca) and Clara Fitzgerald, and a cherished Nonnina to her five grandchildren: Sabrina (Alex), Nicholas, Diana, Jessica, and Johnny.
Mom was full of life—joyful, radiant, and energetic. She was deeply loved, and she made sure we always felt that love through everything she did for our family.
Thank you, Mom, for the gift and joy of your life. Your strong, passionate, and outgoing spirit will forever guide us. You lived a life deeply rooted in faith, and your kindness and sweetness touched everyone who knew you. Your family was your pride and joy—anyone who knew you knew that.
We could not have asked for a more loving, generous, and supportive mother. You were also a devoted wife to our beloved dad, Gerardo, and a caring sister to Antonia (Angelo), Maria Louisa (Nunzio), Antonio (Mary), and Elsa (Nicola, deceased).
You were a beloved Zia to many nieces and nephews, a treasured friend to your paesani from Villa, and a warm presence to all who had the joy of knowing you.
Mom spent many years working at Oxford University Press, Alcan Foil, and Florentine Court, all in Toronto, where she brought her energy and passion to everything she did. Mom’s work ethic was incredible.
She thrived within every community she touched—not only her immediate family, but also her work family, her condo community, LumaCare, and her extended Villachiani family both in Canada and in Abruzzo.
Mom was the heart of every gathering—cooking our favourite meals, baking, sewing us the most stylish outfits, always resourceful and savvy, and never letting us leave without armfuls of leftovers.
She loved good company, sharing proverbi, recounting stories, singing in choirs, playing trivia and bocce, reading, memorizing poems, and of course, hosting dinners and celebrating every occasion. Her love for conversation—chiacherata—and laughter—risata—was infectious.
We will miss her terribly. We invite you to remember her with fondness—her vibrant nature, her passion for life, her honesty, her generosity of spirit, and the way she always made time for others.
« La vita è per vivere » — Life is for living. You lived it so beautifully, Mom.
Your incredible energy and zest for life will live on through us.
May you rest in eternal peace.
