Colleen Crilley Obituary
After a lengthy hard fought battle, it is with broken hearts that the family of Colleen V.K. Crilley announces her passing on Friday, May 16th, 2025, at the age of 77. Born in Saint John, NB on March 22nd, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (nee. Simon) Shannon.
Colleen was first and foremost a mom to her 4 children, daughters: Marta (Jason) Cosman, Shannon Crilley, and Katherine Crilley, and her son Michael (Gail) Crilley. Her greatest joys came in her role as Sittie to her beautiful grandchildren: Sydney, Ben (Jaden), Audrey, Julia, Sadie, Gabe, Reese, and Clara. She was also overjoyed to have her first great-granddaughter, Harper, join her family.
Colleen spent many years working for Sobeys and when she retired, she loved to spend time with her family and many friends whenever possible. She was an avid bowler, seamstress, and gardener, her yard was the envy of many.
She was an anchor in her family, not just to her husband and children, but to her siblings; Marta Shannon (Ian Barton) and Laureen Joyce, her sisters-in-law; Carol Crilley, Dianne (Paul) Tremblay & Debbie Craig; her brother-in-law Hank Dobbelsteyn; and her many nieces and nephews, whom she loved like her own children.
Colleen was a force to be reckoned with and a hole has been left in all our hearts.
Besides her parents, Colleen was predeceased by her husband Michael Francis “Frank” Crilley, granddaughter Sadie Crilley, brother David Shannon, and sister Louise Dobbelsteyn.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, NB E2J 2G3; (506) 646-2424. A Mass of Christian Burial will at Holy Spirit Parish – St. Rose of Lima Worship site; details will follow on Tuesday.
