Clyde Douglas Walker
1940-2025
It is with deep
sadness that we announce the passing of our dad, and grandfather,
Clyde Douglas Walker. Dad passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2025 in
the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, at the age of
84.
From a young age, he
had an undeniable work ethic and a strong passion for helping others.
Dad became co-owner of Rockwell Home Hardware in Kentville, which is a
staple in the community. Clyde was known for his kindness, integrity,
and his willingness to go above and beyond for his customers, treating
everyone who walked through the door like family. His expertise and
dedication made the store a trusted resource for all of life’s home
improvement needs, despite the fact he couldn’t fix a thing
at home.
Beyond his successful
career, Dad was a devoted husband to our mother Carolyn for over 46
beautiful years, and a loving father to Suzanne, Mike and Christine.
He was deeply proud of his family and cherished every moment spent
with them. His grandchildren brought him immeasurable
joy.
He is survived by
daughters, Suzanne Walker, Centreville; Christine (Frank) MacFarlane,
New Glasgow; son, Mike (Connie), Belnan, East Hants; his
grandchildren, Ian, Neal and Joel MacFarlane, his sister, Linda Jones,
Cambridge, and brother-in-law, Gerald Forsythe, Riverview, New
Brunswick, along with many other relatives and friends who will miss
him greatly.
He was preceded in
death by his parents, Burton and Nancy (Kilcup); wife, Carolyn
(Ashby); sister, Evelyn Forsythe; brothers, Donald, in infancy, Glen,
Stanley and Keith.
The funeral service,
followed by a reception, will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January
7, 2025 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Greg White
officiating. For those unable to attend, a livestream of the service
will be available. Donations in Clyde’s name may be made to
the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia, or charity of one’s
choice.
Suzanne, Mike and
Christine would like to extend their sincere appreciation to all the
staff on Medical A for their compassion during our Dad’s
time there. A big thank you to N&S Hearts to Homecare for
allowing our dad to stay in his home, which was his wish. Maura
Doucette, you had a special place in Dad’s
heart.
Above all, Dad was a
kind and gentle man whose generosity touched everyone he met, leaving
the world brighter by just being in it. In memory of our father, live
by his example and be kind to one another.
Funeral
arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and
Cremation Services, Kentville.
